9800X3D vs ??????

I am looking to buy a new PC. AMD is something new to me, so I am very unfamiliar with what they do.

The 9800X3D seems like a good choice, but I am a little concerned that it's being over-hyped. It seems that it's an E-Sports CPU, and not necessarily for me. I'm not sure about other AMD processors though. I know very little about them.

What are your thoughts on this? Is the 9800X3D a no-brainer for gamers, or are they really just for the 1080P players?

everything i have read about the 512 says it is geared toward servers and the like

and that the p core/e core set up makes it so that it just won't work on e cores

How do you figure?

Sure, with my 13400, maybe my 13900k, depending on your clock speed (feel free to share?) but, not by much, definetly not my 14900ks.

User bench also doesn't tell you that YOUR cpu beats anyone's, it's an average, now, the cpu score from 3dmark would be a more directly comparable result given it gives out a reliable number everyone actually trusts and is used for competition / World records.

Never bothered with it much on my 13900k, but I have been in the hall of fame on previous builds and held a world record, for a short time atleast lol
