Way to disable controller input?
Is there a way to disable absolutely ALL controller input on a specific game?

no

you can disable steam input mapping for the game
game -> properties -> controller tab

but steam input is always enabled for remote play games

and with steam input disabled, any local controllers are passed to it from windows

you could use a usb switch box to turn off specific ports

Is it really that hard to plug out the controller?

I have two users on my PC playing on different monitors, one playing non-steam game and myself. I was looking for ways to disable controller input on a specific game so it does not interfere with my gameplay.
Controllers should be disconnected when not in use. Simple as tbat

That sounds reasonable.
I found this:

Be careful though. It's not getting any updates and the the readme says this is a "research project".
The best way to have all your favorite or commonly used controllers, sticks, wheel + pedals all connected at the same time and provide a method to easily turn off some or all of them at pretty much any given time, would be by getting a USB Hub that has On/Off buttons for each USB port.

My own take on this is that you need to deny access by specific apps while allowing access by other apps and this sounds interesting....

(I have been planning to try this for some time, but haven't got round to it yet!).

I can recommend HidHide very highly. It works wonders with hiding devices like my steering wheel, joystick, controller, on the fly as I switch between games. Otherwise I would never be able to keep them all connected at once without occasional issues popping up.

It's also a recommended component of DS4Windows, which you would need if you are using a PlayStation controller. All in all, it is a trustworthy app, as is most of Nefarius' stuff from my experience.

This worked as well, additionally I was also able to figure it out through SpecialK as well.

Special K is a very cool software. I use it to be able to play a game on one screen with a controller and use mouse and keyboard at the same time on another screen.
It also has some optimisation tweaks for some games and HDR improvements for I think all games.
