There I did it, good riddance.

And install Win11 off-line (WIFi & BT disabled in BIOS during install) and then pick an EU country after you reach the final OS setup where it ask you such questions before entering the OS Desktop.

Wait, they don't ask the questions if you select US? lol. Actually didn't know that.

Whatever works. I see zero needs for Win11 at all in the market, its pointless.

Win10 is good til Jan 2028 for consumers; LTSC is good til 2032

No let me explain...

You disable the WIFI & BT in BIOS; then install Win11 (23H2, nothing older), during the SETUP (not the install) it will ask you to finalize what you want for Language and Country, Select an EU country at this point. Then Win11 23H2 and later has to abide by the newer EU Laws and provide you with Uninstall options for things like Edge and OneDrive. After the OS reaches the Desktop, reboot and re-enable the WiFi & BT. Boot normally and do the Windows Updates until all that's left is 24H2, which is optional and can be avoided. Once this is all done, you can then set the Country to whatever you want. Before you uninstall something like Edge, be sure to install your 3rd party web browser of choice and set that as default.

Windows updates, especially new OS, should be taken with care because if anyone remembers the Win10 update 1909 to 2004 which caused major havoc on some systems where MS had to issue an officially released bypass option. :badluck:

Any major Windows update should be handled with extreme caution, same goes for .Net Framework updates but those can be simply removed if causing constant BSoD issues.

Well am I glad to live in EU lol.

As for the disabling of Internet during the setup, mine was easy, because the mobo was too recent for Windows at the time of the install.

So I plugged in my ethernet cable when asked to, didn't do jack.

I had to bypass that with shift+F10 (correct me if I'm wrong), then when I entered the desktop, Windows sent a popup saying "drivers for your mobo have been found, would you like to install them?" so I said yes, and 2 seconds later it connected to the Internet.

Edit: Were the drivers stored in the BIOS or something? I honestly don't have a clue here.

Like I said in the OP, if it ain't broke...

I also don't update my GPU drivers unless it's mandatory.

I've had a few instances of crashes in old games after updating and I had to revert back to a previous version.

So now, unless a game is not working normally, I never update them.

Well yes for many chipsets that are newer, WinOS might not have drivers already on-hand during the installer to where it would be installed already during the OS install / setup, before reaching the Desktop. But if you did not already know that then best bet would be to disable the WiFi (if built into your Laptop or Desktop Motherboard) before the Win11 install so it doesn't sit there and fetch Windows Updates and Drivers during the install period.

Unless it's a prebuild or Laptop you don't generally want WinOS fetching drivers from WU. Get them from the Motherboard maker's support section. Even if you did, they are most likely outdated ones and you may want to check sites like Intel / AMD / NVIDIA to get latest drivers for Motherboard Chipset (or other Intel branded items such as LAN / WiFI / BT) and Graphics Cards.

Well for GPU Drivers. Just do this, don't update them. Wipe them off the system, reboot and then clean install new one (or version of choice). Don't run the installer as a means to update your driver. Don't allow apps like GeForce Experience to handle that either. If you use GFE, set its settings to "Check for Updates ONLY"

I hear that, I use the August 2024 Nvidia driver for this GTX 1080Ti and it runs like a dream (after all the battles and manual configurations) - if it works it works is what I say.

Microsoft can lose all their assets I don't care. They destroyed this world, the founder is a pedo, hung out with the world's most notorious sex trafficker and pedo to "raise money", stole ideas from others to make windows, make windows NSA RemoteDesktop stuff, plundered billions of peoples hard earned money by charging for each version, then coming out with a redesigned version with no additional features and charged more.

Linux will be my daily driver. I can route my nonsense through a raspberri pi that is a modified ethernet adapter, so I don't get so many people stalking or harassing me, and I can just work inside a virtual machine that is password protected

The Founder has not had anything to do with WinOS since Vista. Win11 however is under a couple of complete woke idiots; Satya Nadella (MS CEO) and Christina Koehn (head of Win11 design team)
