RTX 4070 Ti Amazon Scam
Amazon link: https://a.co/d/2HhvHc5

I recently ordered this gpu, and I received the package today. Turns out it wasn't the card at all, and I received a camera lens instead. I've already issued a refund, and I realized the vendor I got this from wasn't amazon. There is however a listing for $829.99 shipped and sold by amazon. I'm questioning the legitimacy of this listing entirely.

Does amazon even sell this thing?

I buy stuff from amazon like at least twice a week, at first I was just buying what I liked till something like this happened.
You ALWAYS have to check if amazon has the stock, so it has to say ship and sold BY amazon otherwise it could be anything from some dude on the other side of the world.
I've checked your link and it doesn't say shipped from amazon but some guy called AMEISEYE

You might be able to collect from amazon though cause they have some kind of responsibility because it was on their site (and it's still is)

I'll add, a good practice is to always film yourself opening both the package and the product itself. If its the wrong product or it is damaged, show it to the camera for a moment. I do this with every big purchase made because it will always be the proof you need that the problem is not on your end.

I heard that most E-Commerce doesn't care about unboxing videos. Like eBay, they don't care about it. It's either you win and you get a refund or not.

what some people don'[t realize is that if the "seller, amazon or walmart or whatever" doesn't get you a refund , and you have payed with a mastercard/visa debit/credit card , you can also lean on them as they back their transactions aswel , just because amazon says it will not refund for whatever reason , you still have the option to go to mastercard/visa and invalidate the payment , which costs the retailer even more money if they decide to refund your transaction , that's why amazon/ebay/walmart are so liberal with their refunds , because they know that if you push the issue with MC or Visa , it's going to cost them even more money.

Ebay and Amazon don't even care. If you have a problem you can easily get your money back with those. For Ebay it is just a matter of using Paypal in order to have the proper Buyer Protections.

Update: I got my 4070 Ti after ordering directly from Amazon - go figure. Reported the original transaction to the bank, but I haven’t seen Amazon update my refund yet.

Sometimes it's easier just to go to a local computer shop for parts, Otherwise there's a bit of waiting and when the thing is delivered it may get stolen if you're not home.

To me an extra $50 doesn't matter a whole lot for peace of mind.

But that still doesn't explain or cut it when a local Computer Parts Store try to sell you like an used RX 580 for $230 Dollar at MSRP or a Basic Output Adapter like a GT710 at 90 Dollars

It's not just Amazon. Walmart.com have these scammers too. When buying, make sure it's shipped from Amazon or Walmart.

Best Buy has the scammers also. And of course ebay.
