Proton Hotfix caught mid download on Linux dual boot annoying the crap out of me
So awhile back I went and dual booted my PC with a Linux distro to see If I would like it or not. I downloaded steam and proton along with that. I ended up having some troubles on Linux and decided to remove the OS from the computer. When I logged into Windows next, In the steam downloads tab there is Proton Hotfix not installed fully in the unscheduled section. When I try to finish the download it say Disk Write Error, when I tried to unistall it, it wont let me. It's bugging me so much that there is Proton Hotfix in my downloads that I cannot get rid off. Any help would be great to get rid of it. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam to see if it would work with no dice.

Just remove it from your Library.
you can avoid alot of the dual boot options if you can route the cables to a easy to reach spot so you can swap ssd's on the fly i got windows 11 on 1 and bazzite on the other and since 250 gb ssd's are under 20 euro its rather cheap to go headache free
Your primary issue was you've shared NTFS partition with downloaded games with Linux.
You may try to delete it manually while Steam is not running. There should be a directory in steamapps/common/Proton* and 1 file appmanifest*.acf

In Stesm Tools remove those Linux things. You can also edit your Steam library files to tell Steam those are.not present
You guys are all Saints
