Im just a newb, im too afraid to update my NVME drivers without an assist tool , through device manager. I'll give you a heads up tho. They need to be updated specifically in a certain order from device manager or else it wont work. They are called NVME_DiD files.
nvme drive is much faster than sata drives (m.2 sata, m.sata, or sata ports)
as for drivers, they are included in the mobo chipset driver package
the standalone driver for nvme drives is for when using raid or a 3rd party controller that windows installer cannot see without the correct driver
