Recommend me some better "cheap" nvidia GPU's ?
Right now using a gtx 970 :killer: with an i7-4790k. Mostly just play CS2 and the gpu's bottlenecking. The idea would be to upgrade gpu now and then eventually cpu down the road if I need to, so if cpu bottlenecks for now that's okay. Also should mostly every gpu be compatible with my motherboard? I guess I'll know if I need a stronger PSU if my pc turns off :lunar2019laughingpig:

real world the games you want to play should tell you the ball park your after.....dont worry about what is said here....look at the games you want to play and then find a GPU that will run all of them.....that is your :vaultkey:

2060-3060 would be good upgrades

but look for a better cpu
4790k held its spot for a long time, but anything 9th gen and newer are so much faster and with more cores
a 10th gen i3 10100 has 4 cores with ht and is faster than the 4790k overclocked

The 4790K actually pairs well with a 12GB vRAM 3060. That was my setup until I switched to a 13400f and a 4060Ti with 16GB vRAM.
Buying any GPU right now is a very bad idea. All the prices are artificially inflated. Hold out for a few more months, that's not so terrible after almost 10 years.

In the meantime, consider reporting Nvidia for abusing its monopoly and market manipulation.

How "cheap" exactly? Realistically if you want to stay with NVIDIA and go for the maximum with your current rig then the 3060 12GB will be it
But honestly.. You should look into a platform upgrade as well

Here's a video (not mine) showing off a 4790K + 3060:

Right now Nvidia is better, in looks and performance. Get one with the most vram if you want longevity.

1080 second hand should be enough for your games library rn.
