Question: RTX 3090 or RTX 5070
Hello lads,

currently I'm still on an EVGA RTX 3070. But I really want to upgrade my GPU the next couple weeks. I intentionally skipped the RTX 40 series.

The RTX 5070 is launching on March, 5th for 549$ (the Founders Edition that is, custom models are going to be more expensive of course.)

The secondhand RTX 3090 would cost me 700$ ~ 800$.

Now my question: Would you guys rather buy a secondhand RTX 3090 now or wait and buy a RTX 5070 (whether a FE or a custom model) ?

There will be no FE. I would never buy a second hand over new one, unless it has either warranty or 50% cheaper compared to new equivalent.

I may be wrong, but as far as I know only the RTX 5070 Ti won't have a FE. The RTX 5070 will have a 5070 FE. You can look it up on the official Nvidia site.

Still thanks your sharing your thoughts on whether a secondhand or a new one.
Can I ask why you would ever want an RTX 5070?

Of course. The RTX 5090 is out of question for me, I'm not going to pay 2000$ or more for a GPU.

The RTX 5080 is a) barely available b) if available, extremely overpriced c) price to performance ratio is (for me at least) very bad

I wanted to get a RTX 4090....but oh boy, look at the prices. It's crazy. So they are also out of the equation.

The RTX 5070 Ti...not a fan of Ti models in general. So the only option within the RTX 50 series is a 5070, I'm not going below that.

And I think that a RTX 3090 is still more powerfull than a RTX 4070 Super.
never had a issue with used parts (3080 is used) and still running fine.....but real world get the 5000 series if you can

IF (and that's a really big if) I can get my hands on a RTX 5070 FE or custom model for MSRP, I will. But it's very likely that sclapers / bots will snatch them away, just to sell them for a way higher price on ebay etc.

Then I will look for a decent RTX 3090. I think upgrading from a 3070 to a 3090 is not thaaaat bad. Enough for ultra 1080p gaming or decent 1440p gaming I guess.

Hasn't the 3000 series always represented absolute evil?

Ive never heard that before. Why would that be?
Wait and have a look at 5070 Ti and also the AMD 9700 XT. The 5070 Ti are already tested and easily able to achieve near 5080 performance via a slight OC

There is no AMD 9700 XT.

Oh I'm keeping up with the Tech; again there is no AMD 9700 XT and isn't one that is "about to release".

They are aping NVIDIA's naming now. It's 9070, not 9700.
