Are the M-atx builds worth the investment?
Today, I see MATX cases have more compact design than before. It isn't just a slight smaller standard Atx case which doesn't really stand out. That makes me want to build MATX pc instead.
My question is MATX build worth it if I do not have many extras beside some SSD upgrades down the line. Any downsides using MATX mobo? And does it have good airflows? Thanks

Not worth it. You're gon need to change the case if the next gpu upgrade requires more space. It also has very limited space for disk storage.

i have microATX motherboard, microATX case, i have 2 M.2 SSDs, 1 HDD, and airflow and temps better than most default prebuilds
you can build the same good PC on ATX and microATX case
it's only matter of taste

It`s always easier to build into big case since you have more room for components and cables and airflow is generally better in bigger case.
Micro-ATX mobos tend to have less NVME slots and SATA ports and cheaper ones have weak VRM shielding and power delivery meant only for 65W CPUs.

Well well well, problems are motherboard supports max x2 M.2 SSD with x4 Sata3 or just x1 M.2 SSD with x2 Sata3 and the case at least medium tower or full-tower for storage also some GPUs was big.
Oh don't forget GPU sag or usually called GPU bended pci-e x16 lane on motherboard situation, this is biggest problem of them all :steamsad:

I always go full atx. I need the slots for addons.

ram slots are limited too on micro atx. I think its ment for companies cubicles. thin clients.

if you need a smaller case, m-atx can work
but its nice to have the extra room of full atx or e-atx

if the cases are close in price, and you have the space get the full atx

use the computer case and a idea of motherboard decide. don't go cheap on motherboard , CPU, and then ram

honestly micro atx builds are good, i have a m-atx motherboard in my medium case (someone else built it for me when i started, however they got an m-atx mobo) but its still good and hasnt had any problems besides limited addon capability (who even uses those anyway, all i've needed is a network card)

itx boards is where they really start to skimp on space for the vrm needed for higher tdp cpus
and the mobo mfgs tack on wifi and other features since the board does not have room for the extra pci-e slots
to be blunt most MATX are the same thing as ATX just missing a PCI-E 16 slot......yeah you lose a M.2 slots on the newer boards but its not really a problem when they still give you 2 or 3
