Finally AMD Dominates NVIDIA!

Nice to see AMD dominating at the $500 to $600 GPU price point.

Yes AMD's incompetent driver yeam is great for the 1% of users who will make use of them being open source vs using nvidia and having full support (usually) from day 1, from what I've been told, nvidia is going well on Linux these days too.

I mean, it would be better if they would just have decent support from the start, plus, if AMD gets, ahead, I'd expect that open source would dry right up, it's all well and good sharing when you don't have advantages to hide.

None of these companies are doing any of this stuff out of altruism.

Why should I care that much if the AMD GPU drivers aren't so great on day one as long as I'm confident they'll get good in a few months?

This is not really making sense to me. Can you rephrase that? Why would AMD open source drivers get worse if they hypothetically pull ahead of NVIDIA in marketshare?
As in if they come up with some new tech thst outs them ahead, irs unlikely they will be so free with their stuff being open source, sadly.

Call me mad, but hoping drivers improve several months on vs just working (most of the time, seems there are current issues), is not something I'd risk personally, unless I was saving a big ol bag of cash.
Open source drivers are about freedom to use your hardware the way you want.
You don't have to use prioprietary drivers at all! (unless you are still on technically outdated OS). It does not even matter if prioprietary drivers are good or not.

Without open source drivers the company can decide one day, you are not allowed to play some games and we don't care what you think about. Example is very recent. Nvidia blocked users to play games with Physx.

I don't know, as an owner of the 9070 XT the lack of native support for FSR4 at launch is already annoying me. Why can't I play more than 30 or 40 games? I want to play ones that rely heavily on DLSS to look good like FFVII Rebirth and with Square-Enix it could be years before they patch it.

It's a known downside of AMD cards that they take a number of months after release day before the drivers are good.

Personally, I'm okay with it... because with that comes better support for open source software.
They don't in my experience. You'll have a few drivers that are fine, and then they somehow mess something up eventually that leads to games crashes, or your PC blue screening for no reason.

Not something i want to deal with personally.

Bad wording, no they didn't, made it worse sure.

Nothing anyone can do about that even if they had access to the drivers to tinker, that is a hardware limitation.

It's not like the old drivers vanish a d I'll take drivers that work (most of the time) with great support over them being open source so that a tiny number of people can try to fix the mess the company made.

gosh the "AMD Drivers suck" mantra you and others spew is getting really really old...

Specially in light of the current driver landscape, which is one where AMD drivers are stable, and Nvidia drivers are *so fricken bad* that game devs are telling people not to use them...

Sorry to break it to you, but at the moment, and for most of the entire current generational release, AMD has been the stable one. Nvidia has been the one with faulty and unreliable drivers big time, affecting at this point everyone from RTX3k users to 5k users.

https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpu-drivers/game-developers-urge-nvidia-rtx-30-and-40-series-owners-rollback-to-december-2024-driver-after-recent-rtx-50-centric-release-issues

But you keep banging that highly out of date and out of tune "AMD Drivers Suck" drum, ok?...
NVIDIA driver issues are not frequent, AMD has issues all of the time and that's why they can't shake off the bad reputation for their drivers.

If AMD was actually as good as fanboys claim then a lot more people would be buying them, AMD has nobody to blame but themselves for their lower market share, that's a fact. If they want more sales then they need to do better than NVIDIA but they spend too much time copying them.

The 9070 series is good but it's plagued by scalpers like almost everything else, and without any extra features to back it up, it's unfortunately worse value than the 5070 series. The 5070 was 100$ cheaper than the base 9070 last I checked and if it had 16GB then it'd be a no brainer.

The 9070XT is in the same price range as the 5070 Ti which means NVIDIA still wins as long as that continues, the prices need to be lower in order for AMD to have any edge, because they have nothing else to show for their work other than performance per dollar value, as soon as they lose that, they have nothing.

So you decided to skip the points where I've said mostly and usually?

You cannot be that much of a blind fanboy to not admit overall nvidia has far better driver support not to mention in game support for features.

The second AMD takes the lead ill buy it, I even praise the 9070xt for h oh w far it has come and if it can manage to stay atleast 100 bucks less than the 5070ti it is the better card for the money.

But, if they cost the same and both are available, only a fool would buy the AMD option and only a crazy fanboy can argue against thst with a straight face.
Yes right now and occasionally nvidia have driver issues, but it is fairly rare compared to the number of issues thst come from AMD drivers, check any forum at a new game launch, or a new product launch.

Im also not defending nvidia, thry had some clear screw ups right now.

The difference is, I don't care who's tech I use as long as its the best fir my needs, but fanboy will blindly pretend their favorite gas no issues ever when it is blatantly not true.

I don't play arguments, I play facts.

Back it or clam it.

Oh well, live in your fantasy as I'm not going to collate hundreds of posts from countless games and launches over the years to prove to a blind man that the sky is blue.

Fanboys, regardless of who's side they are on are always the loudest and least likely to admit their chosen brand has any faults so this seems to be a pointless discussion.

Evidence please, otherwise stop trying to attack me.

Report for what?

Hurt feelings that I won't collate hundreds of threads to prove a known thing?

Go ahead, you are being just as insulting and argumentative.

I just glaze over that guy's post because there's nothing of substance besides Nvidia loyalty.

Literal walking contradiction and I bet he will respond to this post to attempt to cause drama, again easiest response to professional court jesters on Steam that write nonsense all day is to simply never respond to them. Works wonders.

Just watch how he responds and I never care to respond back.

Edit: I should also say that as an owner with over 14 Nvidia GPUs, Nvidia drivers have been absolute trash for the last year esp. in Linux.

Well, here is the response.

Nice argumentative, insulting bait post.

Have a nice day.
