If you plan on buying a 9070xt
Then avoid the Sapphire 12vhpwr version. At least they added fuses but you are better off buying regular 2x or 3x 8pin instead

Yep, like hell I´m gone get anything with that stupid 12vhpwr. Good old 8-pin FTW.

Not that I'm in favor of the stupid connector, but the 9070xt doesn't draw nearly the power that the RTX **90 cards have been, which is what's caused the problems.

That is true but it's better to avoid it until they have something as robust as our reliable 8pin
i will be careful. i am never going to go for a 12 pin connector at the very least. though i would get the xtx version rather than the xt version.

Just had a glance, overclockers have a 31 minute wait to get on their site!
Scan shows some, but no option to buy, in the 9070xt, thry hi from £569 fir the gigabyte gaming oc to a crazy £799.99 fir the red devil Ltd edition!

Dont buy much beyond MSRP, be it nvidia or amd supply will sort it self out over 3 to 6 months, no point over paying now for a slower card.

We don’t know that for sure. They are publicly traded companies and they can’t make gaming GPUs instead of more profitable AI chips if the demand is still there. They can be literally sued for not making enough profit. Both companies have responsibility to their shareholders. They are obligated to have certain level of “greediness” so to speak.

True, we do not know, but we can look to history and it's the same with every new release I can remember, only gaming is more popular than ever, so demand is even higher.
I don't really see a big plus to the average consumer to jump head long into any brand new GPU. First off, by the time re-stocks come later on, we will see better revisions from both NVIDIA as well as 3rd parties (and AMD 3rd parties for those Radeon GPUs). And it's possible to maybe get the revision GPU at same or lower price-point sometimes. Or that the newer revision pushes prices of previously new GPU down a bit; like what we saw with RTX 40 regarding the "Super" revisions. However right now, most of that good thing got wiped away because as the RTX 50 GPUs set to release and did so; everyone jumped on-board with raising prices for the RTX 40 series. The average RTX 4070 now starts at nearly $900 or more on places like Amazon. Just ridiculous. Even many of the RTX 4060 and even 3060 12GB are now going for $350-450 or so.

Totally inflated for zero reasons.

You basically have to buy a whole PC w/ RTX 40 or 50 series now to even get one at a decent price.

I was looking at the Asrock Taichi on Techpoweup and under power connector it has 2x8pin crossed out and says,
1x 16-pin, so I take it they're using 12vhpwr connector too.
Haruspex 6. mar. kl. 10:20
That connector scares me. My 7900 XTX is by Sapphire and also has fuses, but it uses 3x 8 pin connectors. Much safer.

Ocuk said 4hrs earlier lol what are they doing the scan websites working fine. They are a bunch of dirty scalpers anyways they are drip feeding cards 1 at a time with a huge markup over msrp.

Scan Uk are taking pre orders and money up front and then raking in the interest and not really ordering cards.
In USA as I write this, MicroCenter DOES HAVE Gigabyte and PowerColor RX 9700 in stock for approx $549-599 USD - Act quick.

Scalpers seemed to grab all the 9700 XT and put on Ebay starting at $1199

If MC buyer, get on a queue list for a 9700 XT if you want one. So you can be in a queue to get it when re-stocked

Guys, is the 9070XT x264 & x265 hardware encoder equal or better than latest NVENC?

Is AMD still behind NVIDIA in that regard?

I think linus tech tips covered production stuff, cannot say which had the lead, so I'd go check out his video.
