Anyone still using a 5.1 speaker setup with the new MOBO'S?
All the new MOBOS have one line out and maybe a optical, how are you hooking up your speakers?

Realtek Audio Control

Which motherboard is this?

Most modern MB's support 7.1 channel audio. Some older ones might only support 5.1 audio. Not sure what you mean by 'one line out' but you should at least have 3 audio outputs on your MB (Left Right and Centre/Sub) typically.
I run my audio through a USB-C cable into an external soundcard and then to my powered studio monitors so no need for realtek audio.

he is right....most new motherboards are cutting the connections down to only having line in, mic and stereo out.....lots of new boards dont support anything over 2.1......

as for me i had the same sound blaster USB card for over 10 years now that really does support DOLBY LIVE so i can drop a SPDIF fiber optic to my YAMAHA 5.1 amp......without a dolby live encoder you wont get real 5.1 in game BUT will have it on things like watching a movie.....motherboards never have ENCODERS they only ever have the decoders on board....

in previous versions the realtek audio console was installed with the driver package.
on my latest system with win 11 its a separate app from the microsoft store

https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p2b8mcsvpln?hl=en-us

should have been installed by windows (if you didn't 'fix' your install with 3rd party tools)

The new MOBOs like the ASUS HERO on have a mic in/line out/ and the optical out.
And from my research the line out is only 2.1 and you need to use the front headphone jack for 5.1

all mobos have atleast 3 jacks on the rear that can be used for 5.1 analog output
but newer receivers do not have 5.1 analog inputs
(7.1 needs another headphone jack, if the board only has 3 on the rear, you would need to use one of the front panel jacks for side channels)

best way now is to use hdmi and the gpus output for 5.1/7.1/atmos

disable the onboard audio in bios
and configure it in amd/nvidia gpu control panel
you can use hdmi as audio out to a receiver without video

There are 4 versions:
3 audio jacks,
2 audio jack+optical,
5 audio jack,
5 audio jack+optical

and most have a spdif header, if its not on the rear io, and you can use an io bracket

The new MOBOS are missing the 3 former , front, center, sub.
