Which is better to upgrade to AMD Graphics Cards or 4000’s?

Sadly I have to upgrade my 3070 ti graphics card. Sadly my card is bent after being used heavily and not having a support bracket.

Lately I’m afraid of upgrading to the 4000’s due to issues of the card melting 12VHPWR cable connectors leading to fires and the card burning out. I’m thinking of using the amd 7900xt graphics card.

Any thoughts?

but you are just wrong when you say FSR is better then DLSS and that AMD is more energy efficient..

also to OP if you don't care about the features nvidia offers or the absolute best performance (IE the 4090) then i'd go with the AMD card, it's better value.

i have no issue with 4090 msi suprim X since + 2 years with the 3x adapter....it's user fault if it burns....my case is very big.

As a guy moving from nvidia enjoyer to Amd radeon, if you want to a live a peaceful gaming, not troubleshoot with unsupported driver for specific game, stick with nvidia, you just got to be ready to see anomaly with amd radeon

If you aim playing well known game, you wont have issues, but when you play indie or not so well known and the gpu not supported or not friendly with that particular game, well you still can play but with extra crash once a time,

Unless you absolutely can't possibly wait a couple months; I'd suggest waiting. Right now is the worst time to buy a GPU from either AMD or Nvidia. Both the 8000 series from AMD and the 50 series from Nvidia are expected to be launching early next year with announcements likely at CES which takes place from January 7th - 10th next year.

Most of the issues with melting cables have been with 4090. Something like RTX 4070 Ti Super with 285W TDP is rarely a problem and is still very good performer.

Thank you so much for that. Lately I’m going to avoid nvidia as currently when the new series is released. Nvidia does not believe that melting cable issue will be resolved. Plus there could be a significant delay with the new cards released. So Christmas and new year will be the best time to upgrade

Most things in life are a matter of taste but the difference between dlss and fsr is not even debatable. Nvidia uses dedicated hardware to upscale the image and fsr doesn't.
It's a day and night difference visually.

rest is imo not that important because you won't see any difference after 30/60 fps unless you're build with alien genes

nvidia.. mostly due to DLSS say what you want about it.it is the future for 2k-4k gaming
and the dlss 3.8 is superb i have a 4090 and its essential for running high fps in 4k AAA
and is sharp and clean and with 4.0 to release soon it should be compatible with 4000 series.
even if dlss 4 is not compatible with the 4070 dlss3.8 is amazing.as far as the cable goes
just get one of these.been using it since day one removes all pressure on cable.
