I plan on rocking my 2020 pc hardware until it dies. I just now upgraded one of my monitors to a 1440p from 1080. Maybe after the new year I will get the other one upgraded to 2k.
I don't know how much space it takes to store an indeterminate number of C.P.Us. in a warehouse. It's of some important since the warehouses and hence the space within them costs money, but it's besides my point.
My point is only so many people actually want to use the C.P.Us. in the first place, and it's not in A.M.D's. best interest to over-saturate the market by producing more processors than needed on an initial run just because their product may be scalped.
It costs money just to make the C.P.Us. in the first place, so they have to keep a leash on the product by producing it at a pace that is sustainable to them. They likely still want to be able to sell the product at M.S.R.P. or close to it for its second run, and get as much as possible for each subsequent run, but that's going to be rather difficult if the scalpers suddenly decide that their venture failed and glut the market with clearance priced 9800x3Ds.
It sucks for the end user but that's just the way things work.
It's not just a high end issue though, because even CPUs from the previous generation like the 7800X3D are priced similarly as the 9800X3D despite being a generation out of date.. So if a customer wanted to say "okay I'll just buy the somewhat older CPU" when the 9800X3D is out of stock, it doesn't make sense for them to do that.
Plus the 7800x3D is still relatively high end product anyway, especially since the 9800x3D is literally the only product that moved the dial for us.
right, it is bunch of things together. and I was making a point to all "high end" product, not just the actual PC components. The internet hype pumps the numbers up, and I refuse to participate in the rat race.
I think the X3D line suffers from nvidia gamer syndrome. It doesn't have a competitor in the market right now, so it makes sense last gen is also way over priced.
"I gotta have the best gaming CPU or else I cannot play games"
I really think a lot of is manufactured. I am currently having a great gaming experience because I don't feel the need to upgrade to 4k or oled or that.
The FOMO artificially raises the prices. and the manufacturers will lean into that.
It just all looks so out of touch to me and fake.
