100% CPU usage
Heyo just need some help with this thingy. While downoloading games on steam/ubisoft etc to my ssd/hdd, my CPU is at 100% usage. Should it be like that?

SSD also spikes to 100% for a few seconds but goes down to 9%

Best regards

Yes. Depending how fast is your broadband, downloading games from steam can be demanding.
My 7800x3D is used at 100% instantly when downloading games. I've got a very fast broadband that lets me download 100GB games in 5 minutes.

Steam games are compressed. Unpacking the data is hard on cpu and ssd.

if you have an older 4 core cpu or less than that it is normal

All you can do is try to close other apps that use CPU usage, but it may only help a little bit. What CPU and SSD/HDD does the PC have? You can check in the performance tab of Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc).

When you download games from Steam. it is also uncompressing them and installs the game
The faster you download, the more work your CPU will have to do when it comes to file compression

Thats normal and a good thing. Means steam can utilise the full power of the cpu.

It would be helpful if you could tell us what model processor you have.
