Time problem

Hello,
After a clear cmos by removing the battery from the motherboard and putting it back the time is not correct every time I start my PC. However, I have since replaced the motherboard battery and I still have the same problem. I looked online and saw and read that the time not only works with the motherboard battery but there is a small component that stores enough energy to make the time work properly and I also know that unplugging the mains plug is supposed to fix things but nothing. I don't know what to do other than set the time automatically in Windows. Do you have an idea?

Did you change the battery, if so it should keep time properly. What happens when you restart?

Cause you removed the battery. That means it reset the CMOS, which means the Date/Time will not be correct. This is normal. You have to setup everything again. I mean that was the whole point of resetting the cmos, to clear ALL saved settings. Now it's factory default settings again and the clock is probably now at around 01 - 01 - 2000 or something like that. Yes it's normal.

Just change the date & time to be correct in the BIOS? How is that a question; why is it hard?

it will only lose time and bios settings if you reset bios, or unplug power and pull the cmos battery, or short the battery terminals

If once you set the time correctly, then save & exit the BIOS; then over time you notice the time is incorrect again; that generally means its time to change the CR2032 battery as it's dying.

Sometimes Windows OS gets it wrong too. By default Win10/11 will be configure to Set Time and Time Zone Automatically, via internet clock sync. However I've had it get my time-zone incorrect many times. So I set that manually. And my area (Eastern USA) also uses Daylight Savings Time; which WinOS often gets incorrect too when doing a sync sometimes.

So please be aware of this and turn those off if needed so you can set them correctly, manually. If anything just have it only sync the Time. Which will sync the Time & Date through time.windows.com

I usually use time.google.com though; or time.nist.gov

Well. Thank you for your replies but I already did what you mean and when I restart (no start) then my pc keeps the time. Time problem appears when I stop my pc before to sleep for example and when I start my pc the time stays at the time when I stopped my pc. I would to change my motherboard because maybe it is broken ???

In the "Adjust date/time" settings is it set to "set time automatically"? or no?. If not try setting that and see if it helps.

Sorry but I'm not expert but my time problem doesn't come from windows but from BIOS or component on the motherboard. As I told you, I also unpluged the cable of the power supply because I have read on Google that the power supply doesn't manage the time too, they tell, there is a component nearby Bios component which manages the BIOS too and they tell the fact to unplug, solves time problem. I tried but nothing is solved. But I didn't try to change again, my battery of my motherboard too. I'm scared if my motherboard with static's electricity discharges my battery ??? Sorry but I will fix my problem with reparator. Thank you for your replies.

Look within your BIOS, where it shows Voltages for everything; it should show a 3.3V which is for the CMOS Battery. What is the real-time voltage say for this?

I don't understand why my time is not good. I already changed the battery of my motherboard and I don't stop to synchronize the time in windows settings but nothing is fixed. Is there are many kind of batteries CR2032? I need to understand how the time is fixed when I stop and start my computer. I know that there is the battery which it keeps the time when my computer is stopped (with stop in windows) and what else? I know that the time is not fixed in the BIOS too.

I erased a USB key flash and I pasted the good version of the BIOS. I named my file: GIGABYTE. BIN and I proceed a clear cmos with the USB key flash and I have installed windows 11 but I still have the same problem.

It's fixed when you enter the bios and set it yourself. How else is it ever going to change from being incorrect if you don't do tbis.

Otherwise boot into your OS and manually go into the Clock Settings and click to Sync while your have an Online Connection. Once the time and date in the OS is correct, restart the PC.

If it's not syncing to correct time in your OS then ensure the Time Zone is set correctly in the Aos otherwise the time would be wrong

Is the static electricity can burn the BIOS? I know what the BIOS is. The BIOS is a component where there is everything for starting the computer like it checks components, time... Before starting windows... Sorry if I am staying focused on the BIOS but my time problem began when I did a clear cmos by removing the battery only. I don't stop to check what you tell...

If you can't tell us at least what time your pc is saying then you might be hopeless. The time zone thing might be what's causing the problem.

BIOS is hardware and software.
