If it had an antenna extension running to the card, those are supposed to snap on/off the tiny round connectors located on the card
unable to provide any photos but its like a metal box with the wifi & bluetooth card inside it but attached to the box was the antenna sticking oout to fit through the io backplate so i opened the box to try and swap it out and pulled out the cables by accident as it seemed it was glgued down to a little black holding thing as if it was not suppose to be removed and came with the motherboard as its built in wifi but its location is the top of the mobo behind the vrms and plastic cover where the usb ports and that are on the back of the board thats about as close as i can describe it i think
There not open until Monday so will have to wait till then
There probably is nothing wrong. Desktop users are simply not used to seeing these mini WiFi cards as they are not common among Desktops and usually most common inside Laptops.
Inside a Laptop for example your actual WiFi antenna runs from the Motherboard area all the way up and along the inside hollow bezel area of the Laptop screen. This is why Laptops tend to get such good signal strength as the antenna despite being hidden is a good 1-2 feet long. Your Motherboard appears to be supplied with an M2 WiFi card (Intel AX2000 series; WiFi-6 + BT5.2) so what I'm thinking is the antenna ends snapped off, which is normal if you remove the card because it's running from those 2 tiny points on the mini WiFi card, to the rear of the Motherboard to where the actual antenna connections are. So it's very possible you didn't actually break anything.
While this is an example from a Laptop, the same applies to the M2 WiFi Card in your Desktop Motherboard. > https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-bf0ff35c07c4dbbbdc81142ddd749807-lq
Here is another example, from a Desktop Motherboard of a different model. > https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?attachments/1649878331206-png.158804/
The second example you showed is pretty much the same thing but I’ll see if I can get some photos later on tonight to show you where the cable comes from the antenna screws on the box itself I’ve pulled the wire out of the sleeve of the box itself
if you dont mind the empty hole in the mobo io plate, using another wifi 2.4/5ghz antenna slot cover plate would work just fine
The connectors on the WiFi/Bluetooth adapter you linked are called "RP SMA"
The connectors that fit in those antenna holes on your I/O shield are called "IPEX" (either IPEX4 or IPEX MHF1) or "UMCC".
You can find plenty of "RP-SMA to IPEX MHF1" short cables to connect from the adapter you were looking at to the I/O shield.

You just unscrew the nut on the IPEX end and remove it from the I/O shield, then remove the nut on the new IPEX end, insert the threaded connector through the hole on the I/O shield, and thread the nut back on until it is securely mounted. Then thread on the antenna.

just get a new wifi card and cables
the surface mount sma connectors suck, be careful with them
It seems quite difficult to find a wifi card as I just ordered one and had to cancel it as it was for a laptop but this card seems like a mini Wi-Fi card compared so I’m not sure what to look for
should be the same as laptop
Will have another look at the slot tommorow and let you know
