MSI Quality any Good?
Hey gamers. As many of you probably know, MSI is releasing the GS60 Ghost Pro (a better version of the GS60 Ghost) and I'm pumped. I've researched for weeks and this seems to be the best option. However, from any of you out there who have ever owned an MSI laptop, what can you tell me about their product quality as well as customer service (in the U.S.). Everything about it fits my needs exactly, but I have struggled to find much info on the things above. I want this laptop to last a long time (5-6 years would be acceptable), not something that'll break in a year. And in the off chance that something does break, I would like to have some decent customer service. If it's anything like the horror stories for Lenovo, the deal is off, which I really wouldn't want to happen. So again, if any of you can help in this matter, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about US but i believe MSI have a customer service depot in UK. if their quality is anything like their GPU's then i would wait and see what people say as they have problems with fans leaking oil on their GPUs

Never had problems with their graphics cards, but their motherboards I stay far away from. Total junk.

Really? Ill keep that in mind.
Never had any brand of laptop, but from what I heard the MSI ones are built very decently, which I think is natural as long they aim mainly for gaming.
Also regarding the post above me, I have a V-Class MSI motherboard in my secondary PC which goes strong for 6,5 years. Never had any problems with their GPUs either.
If you really want junk motherboards, go for ECS or Biostar.
Akiranyo well then I'll make sure to stay away from those. And that's a pretty good lifespan. Is it still working today or no?

I have two entry levels running fine for my folks. My gaming one was initially defective but the replacement runs fine.

I have an MSI motherboard had some problems at first cuz my graphic card but works perfectly now!
So what I'm taking from this is that product quality is good. But how about customer service? From what you're saying, it seems as though it's pretty decent, but I'm not entirely sure.
Their graphics cards and Intel military grade motherboards are good. I would only avoid their AMD motherboards. Cant really say about laptops, GS60 Ghost Pro specs look pretty nice though.

No issues. It's a old computer with Celeron 2,8 Ghz, 2GB RAM and a MSI Geforce 6200. Used it for some basic Photoshop work and browsing before I got my current.
In my experience if the motherboard survives the warranty time, then will probably run for very long. I have seen the most junk motherboards back when the first AMD Duron came out. There was a shortage of Socket A motherboards, so every little company on Taiwan made motherboards - Matsonic, PC Chips, Mercury, Ali, Octek and I remember even a motherboard called Zida Tomato :wasted:
But my first choice for a motherboard would be always ASUS or Tyan (if it would be sold here)
For cheaper I would go for Gigabyte, ASRock and by MSI only the military grade ones.
The really cheap ones will be junk whoever makes them, perhaps ASUS will last, but will be stripped from most features.

Wish I could post a pic of captain picard facepalming. As if using intel chips make the board components any better.

Intel as the 1155, 1150 socket motherboards for Intel CPU. It's understandable you dont like MSI motherboards since you are big AMD fan and their motherboards for AMD CPU's are indeed quite bad.
My msi military class amd board was missing the system speaker header, it was written on the board but no header soldered on. 2nd time I touched the vid card clip at the back of the pci e slot that snapped off, week one.

Msi seems to cheap out on quality of parts.
All boards have pros/cons, regardless of brand name.

They all offer a range of products, and that range also pertains to various price/quality too.

So you can get quality from MSI, sure; but that depends on the board model / price range.

So just do your homework and read in-depth tech reviews before you buy.

My gaming MSI mobo was defective but I bought it from Amazon so they took care of it. I've never had to deal with MSI customer support outside of a rebate form which they were slow on, but that's par for the course.
I have A MSI gaming laptop and it work good.
Well thanks guys. You've helped a lot with this. From what I've gathered quality is average/good, which is good enough for me. So thanks.
