Yeah, but I wouldn't recommend it since the os is now retired.
I run 2GB on my second PC with XP, 8GB on my primary with 7. I think you can go for XP SP3, it might be outdated, but with that setup you will not play modern games anyways and for ocassional messing arround will not play a role that XP isnt supported anymore by Microsoft. No support doesnt means that the OS will not run and will handle most programs so or so.
and xp is just Crap
This laptop isn't for gaming, as that's why I have my super powerful desktop. This laptop is just for most likely music or something. I don't really have a use for it, I just want it to run as fast as possible.
A classic XP with the latest possible update will run faster on his 1GB system as anything else. Of course is his choice, not mine.
Uhh no! Arguably the greatest OS of all time is not "just Crap"... If it was still supported I'd be building my new computer with it. But with a name like that you have an obvious bias I understand.
