OverClock help-Amd A10 6800k/ Radeon 6970
Hey there guys iam fairly new to the Amd apu;s but I would like to see how far I can overclock this thing heres the parts iam using- I have the Gigabyte F2A88XN/WI-FI mobo, iam using a coolerMaster Seidon 120 (clc) with a 600 watt Ocz powerSupply. Amd overDrive is showing my Apu at 4.3 Ghz Multi is x43 v-core is 1.45 and thermal Margin is 60c-70c.Iam also using a dedicated Gpu aka Radeon 6970. Thanks in advance

Note my MotherBoard has an app called Quick-Boost iam only used to overclocking on Asus boards so I dont know my way around the Gigabyte apps that well. One thing thats certin its not at all Stable when I use Gigabyte Quick-boost to overclock!

one thing I've heard is to never use programs that auto overclock your processor. They will overclocked to a certain point but with way too much voltage.

Learn how to overclock that CPU in the BIOS and not rely on any app to do it.

Exactly. And it's really fun!

Thats why iam looking for tips for bios settings lol

Well, one thing that you should always do is overclock the cpu as high as it can on stock voltage. Run tests and if it is good, raise it more, and if that doesn't work, just raise the vcore at tiny amounts until it is stable.

That is in general, the way to cpu overclock.

Here is an article that may help.

It's all about doing things a little at a time with the CPU multiplier, then the RAM and then the APU (assuming you want to do this). Don't mess with voltages until you know what you're doing.

The cpu multi is at its max x43 so iam wondering if I schould start messing with the Front-Side-Bus.So far its stable at 4.6 ghz.Granted this isnt the best Board for Overclocking ( SFF ) But I think as long as the Cpu is cooled well I schould be ok?
SilentHorizon 9 maj, 2014 @ 17:02
really? I though the multiplier went up to like x60 or something rediculously high.

You could up the side bus. But I only have oced intel pentium ds so I don't know about apus.

You thinkin about ocing, the 6970? That would bring the best gaming benefit.

I have the 6970 overclocked to the max at 950 mhz gpu core, the memory is at 1450 mhz, thats with a voltage bump any higher will get Artifacts big-time.But man alive I wouldnt of belived it until I actaully saw for myself the quality diffrence between Nvidia and Radeon is day and Night guys honestly! The radeons almost seem Muggy at time, or foggy I schould say.Multi tops out at 43.

sweet gpu oc.

yeah, if multi (which is wierd in my opinion) tops at 43, I say try to bump the fsb a tad and see if that works.

Yeah ive seen a couple guys break 1ghz on the Gpu core but it wasnt with air, I guess thats a decent overclcock I dont know? ........Btw I seriously got spoiled after I started gaming on Nvidia lol! I almost hate Radeons now!

speaking of gpus, what gpus are you putting in your fx 9370 build?

Thats a good Question- If iam lucky to find a good deal on a used Gtx 680 I wouldnt mind going that route. Reason being I dont wanna drop $700+ dollars on a 780 ti ( which I dont have to begin with) .....I usually stay a Gen or Two behind the New stuff that way i can get decent performance at a decent price. If that makes sence to you at all? Lol. Example my Gtx 580 can play all my games at max settings on a 1920x1080 Monitor,I can either Sli this card or get something newer? But one thing thats for damm sure No more Radeons for me no matter how good the deal is! Too many driver related problems, iam sick of it!

was wondering, because you were all over the place when you were searching for gpus.
