Run Cpu on 6 cores vs 4 cores? For Gaming

Some very interesting Benchmarks I made so far using only 1 game Hawx 2- I rann everything fully maxed graphics wise and ran my Fx 6100 at 4.5 ghz on 4 cores, then I re-enabled all 6 cores but the max I can get to was 4.2 ghz,but needless to say the game scaled so much better that I noticed up to 60 more fps average, 45 fps max and 35 minimum! Maybe not all games get these results but I just thought id share them with you guys and to see if anyone else has similar results, Thanks

Fx 9370, A10 6800 K, Fx 6100. So far in my stash. And speaking of cpus I just noticed at work they are Releasing the Z97 Chipset without any offical Cpu update? Whats going on with that anyone know? Not like Intel to make new chipset without Cpu lol.Come Summer I will be an Official Intel snob myself,Signing up for the Intel Retail edge program.

Its just a Haswell Refresh then>? I think I read an article with Intel saying they improved Overclocking Headroom on these but dont hold me to it. If I get in on that Intel Edge program iam wondering what Cpu I schould go with- I wouldnt mind owning a 4960x but who wouldnt huh>? lol But if its true you can get the 4930k for as little as $100 iam in! I would only want a Unlocked Cpu but thanks for the info.Btw does it have a Name? It cant just be Haswell refresh,can it lol?


I wonder where in the world they come-up with these names 4 gods sake? A bad-♥♥♥ name for a Cpu would Be Phenom! That to me is Legend! Haswell? Wtf? Has/Not/to/well lol. Sorry intel guys just a little humor at your expence.

Well see about that- What about all the people who Invested in the original Haswell>? Shows how Intwl thinks about its products lol. I will wait to see benchmarks and user reviews before i decide to buy.

exactly. The new devils canyone brings a better thermal (forgot what it's called) thing on the unlocked chips so that they run cooler when overclocked. Just like how good sandy was.

I'm really happy though that this new pentium 20th aniversary edition is going to be unlocked!!!

how do I know if steam is recognizing 2 cores or 4 cores? I have a quad core and steam thinks it's a dual core....

steam only needs 1 core
it doesnt make any differnce if its survey thinks you have fewer

"Help" > "System information" shows you REAL number of your physical and logical cores. It can be different from what manufacturers advertize for marketing reasons.

yeah it says I have 2 cores when I have 4. but it recognzes 4 threads.

I did this. I told fallout to use 2 cores and now after reinstalling steam it still says 2 cores 4 threads

This is dual-core CPU with CMT (cluster multithreading). Thus, Steam is right.

Have you guys seen what's going on with DX12 and 3DMark?
It's going to unleash systems with more than 4 cores from the constraints of DX11

You need a DX11 card and Windows 10 build 10041 to run it.
