should I upgrading my monitor from my current 720p to a 1080p.
I was thinking of upgrading my current 12" 1024x768 monitor to a 23" 1920x1080p monitor. I have a GTX 650 GPU, AMD athlon X4 640 processor, and 4GB of ram. I was wondering how much of an FPS decrease I will see in my games. I can currently play Titanfall on high settings at a steady 60 fps with my 12" screen (yeah I know Titanfall is on Origin) and I can play Dota 2 on the highest settings at 75 FPS (because my monitor is only 75HZ) how much of an FPS decrease will I see if I upgrade to the 23" 1080p monitor? Should I even buy the monitor? Thanks!

It would probably drop to around 30 fps on high settings.

And yeah you should get 1080p. GTX 650 can manage games somewhat fine on high settings with it and it's whole another world compared to tiny 1024x768.

i wouldnt really call that playable and im pretty sure those settings arent on high the textures look way too blurry,

saying that if you dont mind lowering your settings to medium/ no shadows or AA then you'd be fine.
I say yes, upgrade. Since widescreen gives you a lot better gaming expereince.
I still want to know what others think: should I keep my small 12" monitor and have high graphical performance, or buy the awesome monitor and play on med settings.

Medium settings on 1920x1080 look better then high settings on 1024x768 btw. And GTX 650 will manage majority of games on high settings.

alright I think I will just get the full HD monitor, thanks! People can still reply if they want :)
The 650 is the lowest card for 1080 gaming on medium/high settings mix with from 30-50 fps depending on the game & settings. I would get a bigger monitor for the screen size alone no matter what res you play at. It's more immersive. I would be constantly reminded and annoyed that I'm looking at a small 12" monitor. You would also get more viewing distance with widescreen. The GPU can always be upgraded & you would already have a decent monitor. It's a big difference going from 1024x768 to 1920x1080.
can you get a better gpu? 750 perhaps?
im probably not going to upgrade my GPU till next year or so.
k. 1080P isn't too bad, since I can still play mmos on my gt 540M at 1080P
My friend plays quite a lot of modern games on old GTS 250 with high settings at 1080p.
And this is weaker card then GTX 650.
yeah, games like war thunder and f1 2013 I can play at 1080P with 30fps and above at low settings.

However, only exception is hawken, I have to play it at 720P in order to get good fps at low settings.
speeking of 720p how would that look on a native 1080p monitor?
actually, hawken didn't look that bad at all. I was very supprised. Especially after playing hawken at that res for so long, I didn't notice a difference really between 720p and 1080P
cool. ATM I can play hawken at about 60 fps on ultra texture settings, (no AA) with my GTX 650 on my 720p monitor :) I don't want to lower my graphics settings when I get the new monitor though!!@#!
