Speedlink Strike FX Wireless gamepad on linux
I'm looking into the Speedlink Strike FX Wireless gamepad (Model number: SL-4443-BK) for use in Steam (and outside it) and I can not seem to find any internet source that confirms whether it can be used on linux or not.

The official site[www.speedlink.com] states that it is a PS3/PC controller, and Speedlink support told me it does not support linux.

On the other hand, I found a Raspberry Pi forum thread[www.raspberrypi.org], in which a guy claims to use this controller with his Raspberry Pi, which is most likely using some kind of linux but he does not specify which one. Plus, I can not realy see any reason for it not to work, assuming the wireless connection is entirely handled by the usb dongle and the computer sees it just like any other usb controller. But still, I wouldn't like to order it, only to have to return it afterwards.

So, is there anyone who uses this controller on linux that can confirm whether it works?

I am using XUbuntu 14.04, if that matters.

To answer my own question:

I bought the gamepad, tested it and it works perfectly.

Works out of the box after charging and plugging in the USB receiver. It may need installing the 'joystick' package and possibly 'jstest-gtk' too, for a visual check of operation. 'jstest-gtk' registers all axes and buttons correctly only if a LED (number 1, etc.) on the back of the controller is on. To turn it on/off, press the 'home' button on the gamepad.

Hey, that's cool. Might consider that once I (finally) get around building my own Raspberry Pi gaming box.

Thanks! I was looking for a controller for use in gaming under linux and controlling a raspberry pi robot, and this controller works great out of the box :)
