Question to all NZXT Phantom owners regarding case fans
Hey guys,
I need some help with my new case...

My 1st question:

How did you connect all your fan cables (I've added an additional front intake fan for HDD cooling) to your motherboard? My current mainboard has got 5 fan connectors, all of them are in use now. I want to mount an other 200mm side fan later, but there is no connection left. Do I need to use Y-cables if I want to add more fans? How do they work with the integrated fan control?

My 2nd question:

Do you recommend to use the two 200mm fans at the top as exhaust or intake?

Thanks for any help :)

Plug your fans into the PSU or get a fan controller. The top fans should be exhaust.

Ok, thanks! So there is no way to use additional fans with the integrated fan controller at the top of the case? If I plug them into the PSU there is no chance to control the rpm without a second fan controller, right?

Since you said you have no other fan connectors, I assumed you had no other fan connectors. What is the model number of the case and where is the fan controller plugged into?

The case is a NZXT Phantom, as already mentioned in the headline (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146068). I have to admitt that I don't really know where or how the fan controller is plugged in, but I assume that every single fan cable (front, top, rear etc.) has to be directly connected to the fan controller since there is no "special" cable called fan controller.

I have the Phantom 630, all my fans are connected to the fan controller, on the back of the mobo tray, except my CPU cooler.
I have 2 front 140mm fans (intake) 1 side 200mm fan (intake) rear 140mm fan (exhaust) 2 top 200mm fans (exhaust) all connected to fan controller.
What model is your Phantom?

Never mind your case doesnt come with a fan controller like mine.

I have the phantom 530, all fans are connected to the motherboard but inside middle fan is connected with the nzxt grid so I can control the speed

Fans on rear/top should be setup as exhaust.
Fans on front/bottom/side should be setup as intake.

When using a case where the PSU mounts on the bottom, face it fan-side down, so it intakes cool air from the bottom, instead of grasping at the hot air from within your case, and also messing up the overall airflow.

I would recommend getting a fan splitter this way you will still be able to control the fan speed assuming they are 4-pin pwm fans. Here is a 4-pin PWM splitter -http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812311001
Here is one for 3 pin fans - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812493016
