How to Increase Dedicated Video Ram
I have an AMD A6-5200 APU (2.0 ghz quad-core) with Windows 8.1 update 1 and my shared video ram is currently 512mb. I looked through the UEIF BIOS and the normal BIOS, but could not find an option to increase my shared memory. Is there an alternative way of doing this?

Why do you need more vram?

You really don't need to adjust dedicated video ram because the apu automatically consumes what it needs to.

Generally with most Onboard GPUs, upwards of 512MB is roughly the max they support.
And in any case, this is not really dedicated VRAM, it is the user-selected amount that ends up being reserved for the GPU, it gets this shared VRAM from your physically installed system RAM.

If you need more VRAM, then you need to get a Dedicated GPU Card.

agreed, if you need more vram to get good fps in games, then just get a new gpu. however, if u can, get a new apu.

Ok, thanks. So it looks like I can't increase the video ram after all. I was just looking for a slight performance boost, but I don't need it as my current library is playable with this hardware.

overclocking will boost performance.

Its a laptop. So I would rather not. I did find how to OC my processor on my APU, but will save that as a last resort.

Laptop; then u'r stuck with the way the specs are.
Need more performance? Get a better laptop or build a desktop.
