How to underclock RAM?
Yeah so i bought a new RAM card and its 4 GB 1666 MHz,and my computer can only run RAMs that are 1333 MHz,but i heard you can underclock ram cards using Bios,so can someone tell me how to do that, because i really dont want to give someone 30 $ to help me with that

If you put 1600 Mhz RAM into motherboard that only supports 1333 Mhz RAM it should automaticly downclock the RAM to 1333 Mhz.

Yeah,i put it in,but it didn't underclock,so the guys at the computer store told me to take the computer to them so that they can readjust the bios

Set your DRAM Frequency to 1333 Mhz in BIOS instead of auto.
It should be under Advanced Chipset options in most BIOS's.

Can u just tell me how to get to the BIOS?

If your computer can only run RAM at 1333mhz how is it running at anything but 1333?

If it is working at 1600 just leave it, unless it is causing problems.

when i enter advanced chipset it says, north bridge configuration and south bridge configuration

on northbridge there is: Memory Remap Feature,Configure DRam timing by SDP,Initiate Graphic Adapter IDG Graphics mode select,DVMT memory and protect audio video path mode

Configure DRAM timing.

i can only go enable and disable, but i found dram frequency and the max i can put is 800 MHz
TeKraken Apr 27, 2014 @ 8:45am
800mhz = 1600 mhz DDR.

If you have a 1600 setting then your PC can run it at that setting..
Rumpelcrutchskin Apr 27, 2014 @ 8:49am
800 Mhz is 1600 Mhz DDR.
667 Mhz is 1333 Mhz DDR.

Memory is "quad pumped". So you have to take what the mhz is in the bios, then multiply it by 4 to get the true mem speed.

After setting my bios to 800 and putting my card in,the pc is working, but for some reason my monitor is staying black

yeah well i got my monitor to work, and when i turned my computer on it said something like overclocking failed,or overvoltage failed, and the new ram didnt work

Post your computer specs. Motherboard, CPU, and old and new RAM. We need the make and model of both the motherboard and RAM.
