Radeon R9 290 or 290 x?

Its me AGAIN..... So I narrowed down my search for what I think is the perfect card or cards for me, I just wanna ask someone that might be running these cards iam interested in perticular in the Xfx Double D cards or whatever the hell they call them ( lol ) the 290 is about $100 dollars cheeper schould i just get the 290 x and dont look back? According to Benchmarks and to be honest I dont trust all the Benchamarks out there, I think they change them to better suite themselfs or get better sales but whatever........ The 290 x is about or on par with Nvidia Gtx 690 which is till a $1000 dollar gpu for $500 dollars ( Steal ) has 4gb frame buffer as well and would look great in my Build!............... Is the 290 x overkill for a 1920x1080 monitor? I will more then likely upgrade to a 2560x1600 really soon when my build is done, I just purchased this Asus monitor ve247h I have 2 of them but will end-up putting the other one in my kids rooms to game on. Drop me your thoughts on this and what you think I schould do. Thank you

My current gpus I own- 2 x Radeon 6970, Gtx 580 EVGA. I dont wanna sell any of them I like to keep stuff around incase something schould die out I always have a spare!...... I almost ended-up buying a Radeon 7970 but when I noticed its only a tiny bit Faster then my Gtx 580 I scratched that option out real quick! ........ I dont see a point to upgrade unless you are Doubling your performance!

Wait, I thought u were keeping the slied 580s but now your getting a r9 290?

I have only 1 Gtx 580. Was debating getting another

From what I've heared, the r9 290x and the r9 290 are like the 780 and 780 ti. the 290 also has a lower clock rate than the r9 290X.

290x- Faster then Titan at half the price- Also Gtx 690 ( dual gpu ) they trade blows and that one also costs $1000 dollars.So at $500 bucks I think its a hell of a deal.My 2 x Radeon 6970 in Crossfire= Faster then Radeon 6990 (dual gpu) on account of the lower speeds it runs at. Radeon 6970 crossfire is a little bit faster then Radeon 7970 at majority of games but not that much faster then my gtx 580.
