Hard Drive doesn't come with any cables?
I recently bought a new Seagate internal hard drive from Amazon. I noticed it doesn't come with any cables. Assuming I need to buy these separately what cables will I need to buy for this hard drive: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000DM001/dp/B005T3GRN2/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397503153&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=seaate+barracuda+2tb+harddrive
Do I need to buy specific Seagate cables or will any sata hard drive cables work?

Theres usually some cables with the mainboard so yeah you'd need to buy some if you ain't got one left over. Any kind with clips is OK, just make sure it is long enough for your case.

Be aware also that there are two types of cables: a SATA cable that attaches to the motherboard, and a SATA power cable from the power supply (your power supply should already have some of these available).

Most OEM Desktops should already have an extra SATA data cable inside, ready to be used.

If not OEM Desktop, your motherboard should have come with extra SATA data cables.
And extra SATA power plugs should already be available on your PSU.

The cables are provided by your motherboard or PSU (power supply unit), not the device itself such as a HDD or SSD. If you don't have any at all, then they can be picked up separately from any computer store - any Sata 6GB/s data cable (normally supplied by your motherboard) and Sata Serial ATA power cable (normally supplied by your PSU) would work. If you need to, due to limitation of some PSUs, 2x IDE can be converted to a single Sata power adapter.

Most non-enterprise HDDs will come without cables, often even only in some bulk package. Is true on both Seagate and WD. Thats why the best is to throw a cable right into the basket by the purchase. As long is a new HDD, go for a new SATA III cable with some good lenght. So the answer is yes and no at the same time. If you have SATA cables it will work, but in the case that it isnt a SATA III it will have a reduced speed. Also it will need a free power cable from your PSU, but as long you dont have 3-4 HDD already inside it should be ok.
