They don't make AM3 boards anymore, you'll need AM3+ if you want some of the latest and greatest processors. I'd recommend the ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0 or ASUS M5A99X Evo R2.0 if you want Crossfire & sli support and vastly superior overclockability.

As for the processor, the most bang for the buck you can get is the FX-6300 and FX-8320. The latter excells at streaming gameplay, recording gameplay, encoding video and pretty much anything that deals with multi core technology. Both are fantastic gaming processors as well.
