Corsair H50 install
Hi all. Most disconcerting. I just installed the H50 on my old Asus P6T. Piece of cake, took all of ten minutes or so. Fan installed as intake for the reservoir, connected to the cha 1 fan header, pump connected to cpu fan header. Not getting the cooling I expected. In fact its actually running slightly hotter than my old Zalman 9900, and this is at idle. If I run a game, its hotter; 100 degrees F for cpu, 105 for mobo, 110 for graphics. Intake fan is definitely properly installed. Rosewill Blackhawk case with 5 fans. One question is can I put the pump on the power fan header? Instructions say I can install it on any fan header. Odd that they wouldn't specifically say the cpu header. I've been into the BIOS and cpu and cha 1 fan seem to be at max. Thoughts? Suggestions?

100 F is 38 C, that's completely normal for CPU and so is your graphics card temperature, both are fine.
Cheap watercoolers like H50 are about equal to good aircoolers and so kinda pointless.
Corsair H100i or H105 are better then aircoolers but rest is just same as decent aircooler like CM Hyper 212 EVO and such.
Your old Zalman 9900 is pretty powerful aircooler and you should have just used it, H50 is no upgrade compared to this.

Thanks Rumple. It was a gift and thought I'd try it out. What makes the H100 better than the H50? I know the "i" comes with software for monitoring, etc. I liked the Zalman. I have a 212 in my other pc and I like it too. I just thought I'd get a little more life out of my P6T since I can't afford to do much. I probably should have just cleaned off the old thermal paste and reapply new. Just found out by trial and error that yes I can connect to power fan header and no I shouldn't. CPU header needs connection.

h100/105 have 240mm rads, instead of the 120mm rad (edit typo)

in bios, you can disable the cpu fan speed sensor

I believe what I got is a 120mm. However I'm looking forward to a new build in the distant future and was curious.

Just thought id comment on this even thou its old just incase anyone is looking up any info on this cooler. I've got an h60 on my fx8350 (stock clock speed) and it works very well much better then the stock cooler that it came with but you want to have the fan sucking air in from the outside of the case pushing it through the radiator for best cooling. Also you need to disable the fan speed from auto to full on in your bios or else it will just think your water pump is a fan and throttle it down. I have not done it but I know that some people have also added another fan to the radiator for a push pull configuration which should help keep it cooler.
