the e8400 can run a higher gpu, but should be upgraded
its still as good as amd quads
any amd cpu would be a sidestep from a c2q
if you want something, get a 212evo, and overclock by aruond 5-10%
else, save up for a low end i5 build
I'm gonna need a processor that fits LGA 775 or save up to buy a new motherboard and cpu.
775 boards can be picky, there were 2 vers of 775 cpus
not all 775 boards will take all 775 cpus
look up the board brand/model and check its cpu compatability list
do you have the c2d e8400?
its not worth spending $50 to upgrade to the q9400
212evo can atleast be used on a cpu/board/ram upgrade
The motherboard came from a eMachine ET1831-01
I can get the e8400 for around $20.
if you dont mind spending $160 on a cpu/board/ram
get a haswell pentium g for $50-60 (itll beat the q9400)
and a cheap 1150 board (h81 will be under $50)
and a cheap ram kit

its 2 cores, but still better than amd quads, and c2qs
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/497/Intel_Core_2_Quad_Q9400_vs_Intel_Pentium_Dual-Core_G3220.html
then you can upgrade to an i3/i5/i7 haswell if needed
if near a microcenter

you can get the cpu/board for under $100+tax
g3220 $50+tax

h81 mobo $45+tax

GTS 450 is better then most of the crap that people those days buy for budget graphics card like all the GT series.
You need to cut some graphic effects like AA and use some lower quality shadows and such but majority of games will run ok with 1920x1080. It will have problems only with latest AAA games released during last year and coming out soon.
I would never buy those parts to make new PC but if you already have them or can get them dirt cheap then it would be ok.
I live near a microcenter and I can get the FX-6300 with motherboard as a combo.

FX-4130 is pretty much rubbish and FX-6300 is basicly same power as i3.
