PC monitor suggestions
Hello everyone !
Can you give me some suggestions about pc monitors (122hz and 1920x1080 resolution) that would allow me to run the newest games properly (i.e. without tearing and all these kinds of stuffs) ?

Thanks in advance ! :)

The Asus VG248QE 1ms 144hz 24" 3D Vision is a popular monitor. There is also the similar Asus VG278HE 2ms 144hz 27" 3D Vision. BenQ has the XL2420TE or XL2720Z. I'm personally getting the VG248QE. You can also buy the G-Sync modded version.

System specs :
- i5 4430
- MSI Twin FozrGTX 660
- MSI B85-G43 (Chipset Intel B85 Express)
- 8 Gb of RAM

Fact is, I run all my games with 60+ fps so I just need a monitor that will follow and do better than a 60hz !

G-sync seems like a good thing but has anyone ever used it ?

Yeah, and as a budget constraint, I'd say 200-300 euros.

The first one you talk about was the monitor I wanted to buy but I want to be sure because I've seen some comments on the fact that colours seem altered on it.

It's a TN monitor and built for speed not color accuracy. An IPS 60hz monitor would have a much better image quality, but slower for gaming. You can tweak the VG248QE and download an ICC profile to boost image quality. I haven't had the chance to see G-Sync, but everybody that has agrees it looks amazing.

The BenQ XL2420TE has a little better color quality.

Well, is colour quality the same as colour fidelity (I mean, will it look like a filter is on the screen) ? :D Sorry to bother you...

If you want more color vibrancy then go in your graphics card control panel and increase the saturation to 60-75%. A lot of displays use a filter to smooth out color banding to make it less noticeable. I'm not sure if the VG248QE does that. It's designed for high speed, smooth motion and almost zero input lag. It may or may not have a filter. I would think that would slow it down. I don't know. You could try going to a local store to test different displays in person.

Thanks ! My idea (the VG248QE) definitely seem like a really good monitor.

Any particular reason why you want a 122hz monitor? Many games have trouble with them as they can't run at that frequency, Most are limited to 60fps by their physics engine

There is not much point getting 120 Hz monitor with single GTX 660, you will not get anywhere near 120 fps with it except in some 5-10 years old games.

I have the vg248qe and i think its an excellent choice, terrific monitor. The vg278 is g-sync enabled but the tech was only just introduced this year and its expensive still. according to reviews it should be the thing to go for when it goes mainstream.

As far as hz and fps go IMO if you have a capable monitor its better to set hz/fps at about 25% higher than you need to acheive, so if you want a stable 60fps you set your moniotr hertz to 120 and fps to 90 with v-sync off.

BF3 runs at 90-100 fps on some maps with my specs. If the game runs at 60fps, so be it, but I'll have a lot less blur and tearing.

The Asus VG248QE 1ms 144hz 24" 3D Vision I have, I can say cant go wrong with it. Monitor avg cost $279 and 3D Glasses avg cost $129 from Nvidia. I set all Monitor to 144 hz and max out very thing in games and its so smooth ill never go back to a 60hz. BTW when it comes it looks all washed out you just got to setup right. Game under Scenery or Theater and internet &rest on standard.

I have a GTX580 Gainward Edition with a 42 inch display at 60hz I dont seem to get a problem.Perhaps I am just used to it but I dont seem to have any lag or delay in any game.I have a better display here that runs higher but it is only a 22 but I cant see the difference.I am running at 1920 x 1080.
