[Windows 8.1] Strange input lag?
There's a strange input lag that I've been getting lately on my desktop. Every so often (it's mostly noticble in games) there's a significant delay in movements. In Minecraft, I won't jump until a second later, or I'll keep moving forward despite me not holding down the w key. (I actually died and lost 20 levels because of this :U)

It doesn't do it just in games, either. I get a delay when typing from time to time. The input lags behind keypresses, but eventually catches up after a second or two.

It started happening yesterday. The last notable thing I did was install a language keyboard (which does make sense) but I have since removed the language, and I'm still getting the input lag.

I'm starting to suspect my RAM being the problem. It's budget RAM... :U 1066. It caused problems in the past with MW2, so it wouldn't be out of the question that the RAM might be causing the problems.

My system is pretty low end, but it's been working great up until now.

Core2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33ghz (factory) (stock cooler)
MSI Radeon HD5770 factory clocked
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM (running at 5200 RPM)
4GB DDR3 1066
ASUS budget motherboard
Antec 450W Power supply
Windows 8.1 Professional
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2012

I've tried...
Testing the keyboard on another computer. (No problem.)
Rebooting. I've rebooted a total of 7 times, and not a single one did anything.
Cleaning my computer of dust (While it helped apps load a little faster, still didn't fix the input lag)

I will try...
Booting into safe mode and slowly enabling all my apps to see if an existing app is interfering with keyboard.
Running a RAM test.

Switching to Linux or Windows 7 is out of the question.

Check your Power Options, Sleep, and Energy Saving.

Do you clean out temp folders & 'house-keep' occasionally?
Nothing seems out of the ordinary, and yes. I house-keep at least twice a week.

Try this
Keyboard lag. Not mouse lag.

I can't see how the ram speed would affect keyboard input lag... maybe a faulty USB port? Try switching around USB ports maybe, see if that helps

Done, to no avail.

Do you have a joystick plugged in?

Maybe check how large your Paging File is in Advanced System Settings. Consider setting it to 4000MB rather than Let Windows Manage.
I did, but unplugging it didn't do anything.

4000MB? It's already at 704 :U That sounds like a big jump, but okay.
Okay! The pagefile is set to 4000MB. I also decided to open my rig up and give it another clean, this time targetting the heatsink. Windows booted significantly faster, and so far I haven't had the delay when typing. I'll fire up Minecraft (or type something really long) and see if it happens again.

EDIT: The problem persists...
EDIT2: I took a peek at temps. My CPU was running at 46c, although with a bit of fan speed magic, I dropped it down to 41c. Overall temps seem kind of nice and stable, so I can rule out temperatures being the cause of the delays. I'm starting to suspect the problem is related to a program I have installed...

If you think it's a program go into Task Manager and check running proccesses/open apps. If you see anything suspicious a quick google will tell you all about it
I'm just going to pretend that this problem is unfixable, and use it as an excuse to upgrade my rig ;)

Thanks for your help you guys.

I'm have the same problem. Recently I got a rock candy xbox gamepad to use, and only until a few days ago, my steam client / pc was working just fine. then i noticed the keypress lag whilst playing ksp. if this issue has anything to do with the gamepad, please reply and give some suggestions on what to do

:)
Why don't you try making your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

Seriously, there's no reason to piggyback off someone else. Take 2 seconds out of your busy day and make a new thread
I know this is old but it is still one of the first results on google "keyboard lag minecraft" search and can happen with any version so here is the solution: This happens if you are running the 32bit version of java on a 64bit machine.

Go to \program files(x86)\ (where 32bit applicatons are) and delete the \Java\ folder, making sure only the \Program files\Java\ (where 64bit applications are) folder exists. If you only had the one at \program files(x86)\, download the latest 64bit java.

Fixed.
