look for something with bottom mount psu and top fans with usb 3.0 ports
then the psu will run alot cooler and not trap hot air in the top of the case
Can I jump in on this? (sorry OP). I've just bought a Corsair CX750M and my system is cutting off. Everything runs fine on my CX500M, but the 750 causes it to cut off after around 5min.
I didn't try anything different with the 750, no overclocks, just ran everything at stock as always. Plenty of cooling too (one 140mm front intake, two 120mm top exhausts, PSU is bottom mounted, all cables are tucked away nicely)
That shouldn't matter though, like I said the 500w works just fine.
This will dump all the hot air inside the case and is quite bad for your PC.
PSU draws colder air from outside through the grill in the back and dumps it out from the fan opening.
Get yourself decent bottom mounted PSU case with fan slot in the floor of the case and install PSU with fan facing that slot, that way it will dump the hot air outside the case.
You can get good case quite cheap, this is nice example:

Most likely just defective unit, RMA it.
I've been building PCs for a long time and I've never seen a PSU that doesn't exhaust air out of the back.

Thats what I figured. I'll see if I can take it back to the store for a replacement. RMAing it would mean paying to ship it to Amsterdam from the UK and that would cost a bit.
iv seen a few fanless in oems, and seasonic has a 300w fanless
but any good psu will exhaust out the back
Yeah sorry, total brainfart. It sucks air in from fan opening and dumps it outside through the grill in the back. Result is basicly same though since if PSU is top mounted it will suck in hot air from the case that is heated by CPU and GPU and PSU overheats.
Bottom mounted PSU cases are still best since it sucks cooler air in from the bottom fan slot, so everything I said about getting bottom PSU mounted case and installing the PSU with fan down is still correct.
Most good PSUs have an ambient temperature rating at 50° C for continuous power, so that really doesn't matter unless you have absolutely terribly air flow in the case.
This thread is really taking a turn that has no bearing on what the OP is looking for. There is no way that he knows what the PSU temperature is, since the Corsair CX750 doesn't have an internal temperature sensor available for reading. The unfortunate part of this is that the PSU can only output rated power up to 30° C before temperature de-rating occurs.
I think there is something else going on here, since the PSU isn't shutting down the system. The only thing the OP said is something is getting too warm in BF3 on ultra. What does that mean?
What are the rest of your specs?
Yeah , first i will get a new case , with bottom location for psu . I saw a Zalaman Z3 case , with top and side fans. Maybe will help.
The PSU is blowing hot air over the CPU fan ( this is reaching 5000 rpm ...) - is running like hell , but CPU is staying under 60 degrees. Is stock fan for my CPU : AMD6350 .
I run immediatlly after , aida 64 , and the temps are varying around 50-55 degrees C .
What is the sucked power of gtx 770 ? I read some reviews , and it looks that varies , up to 450 Watt. ... It has 2 pins with 8 plugs...
I dont think that is exceed 750 Watt ( even 750 x 0.8 = 600 Watt ) with the CPU , mobo , one hdd and 2 case fans.
There is some auto calibration of succked voltage / current inside that PSU ? Because when i installed the GPU first time, and start up the computer , it was powering up , then shutting down by itself , after that is started again ( after 1 sec i supposed) . It happens several times , only at powering up , in the last week , but from 2 days ago , at power up , it dosen' t do anymore....
Strange.....
OCCT it has some PSU stressing tests ?
THX...:)
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That PSU exhausts air out of the back so it is pulling air upward across your CPU heatsink.
I bought a case with PSU location down ( on the lower part ) . Now everything is ok , and PSU is cold , even i play BF3 , Far 3 , at ultra, time of 3 hours .
I am happy now.. :))) Thx guys
