New gpu, emits a bit of a burning smell when the temp is 75C~?
Should I be concerned or is this one of those new hardware kind of things.

GTX780 (titan cooler) for ref.

Additionally: Should I be concerned with it blasting hot air at the wall of my room?

75c is absolutly fine for a gpu on usage, and i had seen people saying they smell a burning smell on a new gpu before and it always came down to the components on the board "burning in" as its a brand new gpu, so it should be fine.

what brand/model gpu

70c should be fine, but if the vrm phases or vrms are weak, it may start them on fire
its a common problem on cheap/msi amd board, but it has happened to a few gpus

(scroll to the bottom and pick on gpu vrm failures)

I would say a burning smell is a bad thing.

However the temp you are using it at is within reference.

Since you are covered by warranty I'd either keep using it and RMA at the first sign it is not working properly or RMA it now if you can't stand the smell.

If it was defective you aren't the one who has to fix it.

Did it smell bad before you started using it? Perhaps the manfacturing chemicals were not properly cleansed from it, in which case it might be a good idea to return it for exchange with one that was properly cleaned. Not because using it would not work but rather for your health and safety.

Also does your case have proper airflow? 2+ 120mm fans would be reasonable.

Never hurts to add few 120 mm case fans with powerful graphics cards like GTX 780 if you have some free slots available.

It's an EVGA GTX780 with default cooler style. Theres no odor (other than the new computer smell), only noticed the slight "burning" odor when I started testing out games. At idle or when doing regular desktop work theres no smell (barring the new computer smell).

Also, the default cooler (the titan cooler) it blasts the heat out the back of the case. Is it going to be an issue that it's blasting the really warm air at my wall when I game? (The wall is just regular drywall/paint.)

Edit: I have a well ventilated case, but no secondary fans installed currently. The room I'm in however has poor ventilation and can reach like 80F ambient temp after a few hours of gaming.

How long have you had it? It is normal to have a new 'plastic smell' from things when you first use them.

I don't think blasting warm air at the wall will be a problem. So long as it's not hot enough to make a hole in the wall, you should be fine :p

Put it together last Wednesday, but haven't had the chance to put any of the components through their paces until the last day or so.

Well 75c is fine. I personally don't let mine go above 60c, but I think it's around 100c or something before your stuff can start getting damaged.
