Seeking custom build PC help [US]
I finally have a lot of money saved up from months worth of work and now I would like to create a shopping list for computer parts.

So this computer-to-be must be able to handle gaming, live-streaming, Photoshopping, and running a capture card.

Games I own:

-Team Fortress 2
-Sims 3 + All expansions up to Seasons*
-Plants vs. Zombies*
-Garry's Mod
-Psychonauts
-Spore*

* These games will not be used with Steam

Games I plan on getting:

-Saint's Row the Third (It was gifted to me and it never finished downloading)
-Skyrim
-Nights: Into Dreams
-SEGA All Star Racing Transformed
-StarWars: Battlefront 2
-L4D2
-Age of Empires 2: HD (can I play with others using the original AoE2 on older PCs?)
-Sims 4 (if it's worth getting)

Some other notes:

-I was told to go for an Intel i5 or higher processor. Should I?

-I was also told to go for a 750 watt power supply? Once again, should I?

When you post, I would love to get a quote on the overall price. I live in a state where there is no sales tax, so you don't need to calculate that. Thank you in advance. :)

Oh? I think they're pretty much the best value available. If you don't like AMD though go for Intel & Nvidia, whatever makes you happy. They do generally cost more though.

This might sound little abit over kill but if you are going to do photo editing and videos it might help you alote to go for mid range I7 that what i did and I have hade it 4 years now and have never looked back. I woude but in about 16 gig of ram most photo and video softwear take alote of ressources.

I see, but my younger sister can run photoshop with her weakling computer. I should be able to do the same.

I was suspicious about the power supply's wattages.

As for the monitor, you don't have to add any since I already own a really nice HD one.

@rove
asrock extreme boards can do sli and crossfire, the pro vers dont sli but can crossfire with amd cards
with an nvidia card go with extreme, with amd gpu go pro

and find better ram, 1600+ cl9- 1.5v- ram kits
timings are just as important as speed (each 1 above cl9 is like dropping 1 step in speed)
to compare kits, speed/cl = value (higher = better)

and 1.5v is important too, so it can work in an intel build if needed

gold rated psu is not gong to save the $50 in electicity over 5 years over a 80+ or bronze psu

As for the monitor, you don't have to add any since I already own a really nice HD one.

Nothing wrong with the PSU wattages, they are more than enough for the system and have lots of room for upgrades or overclocking. They will deliver as specified and you can check the individual watts per rail, they all have good 12V delivery. The ones in the 2 better towers also have a 10 year warranty on the EVGA SuperNOVA 650w 80 Plus Gold and a 5 year warranty on the Thermaltake SMART 550w 80 Plus Bronze..

Oh and I just had to change the GPU to one that is still available and in stock and actually cheaper since the other one was sold out.

So if you have Monitor & WIndows OS already then here is my advice for a tower only with a updated price:

Total: $666.91

The devil's price?
I'll look into this build. Thanks again.

For that money you can hardly do better. MSI military grade mobos are not that bad, I would just not use them for AMD builds. And you can do lot worse then that PSU.
MSI graphics cards Twin Frozr line is good quality, I used MSI graphics cards a lot and never actually had one to fail on me.
I dont like the CX Range from corsair alot of people are haveing problems with them.
if he can go to $750, he can get an i5 build with a gtx760

Ya that is a nice build. A bit expensive but it's nice, good performance and good quality.

I don't think I need 2 TBs for memory. I can go for a 1 TB hard drive and go for an OS.

To everyone else: I was advised to wait until I have the money in case some parts become unavailable in March/April.

I also plan on making a starter build that can be upgraded as more money comes in, so I need to get a motherboard that allows that and the power supply that can take on new changes. Does this plan sound good?
for the price diff, go with a 2tb hdd
hdd prices have been pretty consistant over the last year or two
1tb for around $60
2tb for around $90

what parts do you plan on upgrading?
you can go without a gpu and use the intel 4600 gma which is fine for newer games on lower-mid settings

or drop the gpu and lower the cpu to a haswell pentium g, still same socket at haswell i3/i5/i7
they are around $50-80
dual core with no ht or turbo, and still match amd quad performance
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/214/AMD_FX-Series_FX-4130_vs_Intel_Celeron_Dual-Core_G1820.html
but the intel hd is not good for gaming at all
good for flash/videos but no 3d rendering
