I have case fans that are 20 years old and still as good as new.

if your computer doesnt run, because of your dusty gfx board(heat error), clean it. your computer cannot be destroyed by a heat error from your gfx board. the computer stops working, when the gfx board is too hot...no problem. then, if a cleaned gfx board does show errors, you have to buy a new gfx board. fans are only to be replaced when they are not turning anymore., but it can be done. and: if your system works, it is all well and no one can say, when electric parts become unusable. just dont believe the hype.

Gpus usually become obsolete before the fans go bad.

Of all the fans in your system, the GPU probably spins the least.

It's impossible to make concrete predictions on the lifespan of someone else's hardware. If you strive to keep things cooler overall, hopefully the fans will spin less rpm and hopefully last longer.

How much? Who knows.

i cannot say that i have ever had a fan that i needed to replace

i only have one card that will not work anymore

and that was stupidity on my part that a new fan just will not fix

Only ever did this on a GTX 480 to cool it better with a Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 and Thermalright VRM cooler.

Pretty every build I've done the last 20 years by the time a cpu or gpu fan becomes a problem the system is so old is ready to be retired.

I've never had a gpu fan die, oldest system I have still running has a gtx670 running all day as an htpc, so that's 11-ish years still going strong.

Rarely. I recall about a decade ago, got a cheap gtx 670 very cheap on sale. It had a crappy blower fan. It was hot & noisy. I replaced the blower section with a cooler & fans. After that it ran really quiet, cool and a great overclock.
So maybe just after after buying the GPU.
