HDD Brands?
What HDD brands, do you recommend for extra storage?

If the software is on the HDD and not SSD, then no, it won't benefit from the SSD. It still has to read from the HDD.

If your case of compiling of code requires a lot of writing to the disk (I'm not sure if it does or not), then I'd personally try and get a decent HDD (non-SMR for sure, and ideally 7,200 RPM) for this purpose. Some modern (high capacity) 5,400 RPM drives can be decently fast; my current pair are about as fast as two older 7,200 RPM drives, but they will still be slower than 7,200 RPM drives, all else being equal.

Makes sense.

What’s your thoughts about this HDD? Any good?

Not sure if that particular drive is good as I don't know much of it (my experience is mostly limited to Western Digital, but you probably WON'T get a good price on a 7,200 RPM Black compared to Segate and the others), but if it's CMR as it claims and not SMR, then I see nothing wrong with it.

I’m not sure, which of these 2 to get:

Seagate Exos 7E8 8TB or Toshiba X300 8TB?
