VPNs are useless for privacy unless you go to extremes such as never loging in to any websites and clearing the browser cache every session.

Yes, their promises of privacy and data security are a scam. They are promising something they can not give you.

Some VPN providers only exist to mine data on it's users.
Here is something from Kitboga about the same topic:

It's a cash grab for many of these so-called providers. Some have as much respect for your "privacy" as adware or similar. This is my opinion.

A very popular vpn provider, Windscribe, suffered a data breach recently. In my opinion, you would have "better" luck with a subscription/paid service but read the fine print and look for legit user reviews.

I go without, thanks.
The only real value in a VPN (which you don't actually need to pay for, pretty sure you can do that ♥♥♥♥ yourself) is getting through geographical locks to connect to something that's typically locked to a region, like an MMORPG server if you live outside of NA, EU, etc. or websites that are just locked out of your country.

Not only that, it makes your connection slightly slower because it's taking a different route for data to go from one point to another, slowing the rate at which information is transmitted.

Privacy and security through VPNs is an outright lie, because in many countries your ISP can still see and track everything you do, and in other cases, your VPN provider could be mining your data just to sell it to other companies, including your ISP if the VPN stops them from tracking you. There are exceptionally few cases where a VPN can help with privacy and security, and even then, it's rare, and in some cases, it's not hard to get around it.

VPNs are just as stupid as companies like Nestle bottling tap water and selling it back to people as if it's a necessity, which it only is in cases where the tap water isn't safe to drink because of toxic materials in the water, but yet the bottled water industry is massive in the developed world as well because of convenience and ignorance. People will always be dumb enough to fall for crap and buy things they think they need because marketing tells them so.

You can use a sandbox to delete stuff automatically after exiting.

Also can't sign into windows either. And even with no sign in they can cross reference stuff including your habits and preferences.

Theres also hidden protected files like $ files.

Sandboxing does not automatically delete files, this will be a seperate setting. You can use sandboxing to containerize your activities and prevent cross-site tracking.

You shouldn't be using Windows at all when privacy is important.

There is no such thing as hidden protected files which infringe on your privacy.
In other news, corporate VPNs are now worthless to protect your employers data from your ISP since they can see all the traffic...

¯\(°_o)/¯

wait, what? Are we actually saying this as fact?

We're talking about publicly available VPN providers like NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, etc. It's not just the VPN itself, but the companies that manage them.

And ISPs can't get through in all countries, but they do in the West. They just can't do anything with the information without breaking laws and having their company's reputation completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Your ISP can only see what IPs you are connecting to. And if you are using their DNS they can also see which websites you visit.

Unless you live in the United States and make use of a network beloning to one of the national monopolistic ISPs (Comcast, AT&T etc..) I wouldn't worry about your ISP milking you for data.

A VPN or similar method such as Tor would completely prevent them from tracking anything hugely meaningful other then that you are always using a VPN or Tor.

I would worry more about the websites you visit and all the third party crap they are loading. A good ad and tracker blocker will get rid of most of that. Firefox set to strict privacy mode will agressively block third party content and negate most spying.

Well, if you don't care about privacy, why not go with a free service? That's the point of the OP: why should you waste money on a paid vpn when you just need it to access blocked content and don't care about privacy b/c you can't do anything about it anyway.

Surfshark is a possibility and it's free. I'd just read up on it, incl. legit user reviews.

Better off looking into a free VPN that actually works well enough. As the privacy promises are of course a joke. Being online and logging into stuff equates to no privacy on those services and also others such as your ISP and others (such as a boss or IT guy at work who can see everything you visit via your device IP and MAC) so really the only thing you can do is limit how much personal info in various areas online, you share any given time. As sometimes sharing personal info online might be a must, like when filling out government or state related forms and such online. Just be mindful of keeping your network and devices clean. Don't do banking and things of that sort via public WiFi or even a network at your job.

Overall the only point I see in a VPN is to allow me to fake my region so I can watch Shows or things of this sort that might be regional-based.

All a paid VPN does is you willingly selling your data. A VPN can also slow you down cause your traffic has to jump through more hoops from point A to B
Someone scared everybody into thinking privacy and data harvesting was such a concern that they had no choice and needed something to make them sleep at night.
Ain't no free lunch anywhere. :steamhappy:
Some real information. Not YT nonsense: YouTubers say what they think their audience wants to hear. To gain popularity and get clicks. They care nothing about truth.

You can use the Tor browser to cancel out cookie tracking and other nastiness. Or use a script blocker and set your browser to remember nothing and clear the cache on exit.

No matter what you want to think, you can always find someone to agree with you. Especially on YT. You are so correct. You are smart. Spread the word. And support my channel.
