What do you all think about the new Commodore 64?
New OS is looking pretty cool and it’s cool you can dual boot.

What Steam games do you think this will run? Also, you think it would be easy to install SteamOS?

What do you mean which Steam games will run when the main component inside is AMD Artix 7 FPGA???
Basically C64 logic implemented on FPGA.

I ordered one. Big fan of the project to revive Commodore.

It’s the new one. From what I understand it can also run Windows 11

With 128MB RAM?
Two different products are being conflated here:

1) The video in the OP is about the "new C64x" from 2023, which is a C64-style case and keyboard for Mini-ITX motherboards, and is itself a reimagining of the original C64x launched in 2011 by "Commodore USA" (which was eventually ruled to never have had a legitimate license).

2) The commodore.net link features the C64 Ultimate, which is an FPGA-based C64 clone, announced recently and not shipping until Q4 2025.
It's not going to run any Steam games. It's an FPGA machine. I think the OP needs to do some reading on the subject...

My first computer was a Commodore 64. My brother had the original 'Breadbin' model and I later had the redesigned C64c. I love these FPGA machines.

I'm not getting one as I've already ordered a Mister Multisystem 2 FPGA which is due to ship to me sometime early next month (August). The Mister will play C64 games as well as many other games from multiple classic computers from yesteryear.

I think it's a cool concept, but I feel like it'd be kind of a waste if they don't open the platform up to third-party FPGA development, which I haven't seen them talk about. Maybe it will be covered in one of the upcoming videos.

64GB DDR5 or 32GB DDR4.

CPU is either a 8C16T AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS with Radeon 780M iGPU or 4C4T Intel N100.

I just watched a video which I linked above on the new C64 OS and it looks wild

Core: AMD Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA
Memory: 128MB DDR2 RAM
Yeah that’s their basic option. Lol look at the tape memory for that one

on a system that had 64kb.....
Again, two totally different products. The only thing they have in common is the C64-style case.

The C64x can run Windows and modern games, as it's literally just a C64-style Mini-ITX case with a built-in keyboard. It has however much RAM is installed on the board, which is up to the user. The vendor sells prebuilt configurations from an N100 with 8GB of RAM up to a 7940HS with 64 GB of RAM.

The C64 Ultimate is an enhanced C64 clone based on an FPGA reproduction of the C64's logic. It doesn't run x86 code at all. It has 128MB of (presumably soldered-down) RAM, which is total overkill for C64 but probably just about perfect for an enhanced Amiga...

Yea my appologizes, I was confused because of the Commodore 64 Ultimate; this is an outdated specs based Retro PC; THAT ONE will not run WinOS or modern demanding games.

The Commodore 64X will though and has a wide range of specs from Intel Atom all the way up to a modern Intel i7 class of CPU. Basically with this one, all that it really is; is modern day specs inside a Commodore 64 style case. Nothing like the old Commodore 64 Ultimate retro pc.

This is a retro PC:

The all new C64X modern PC from Commodore is shown and detailed in the video linked in the OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG1TdfezJzo

It doesn't really do anything or bring anything to the table. It's mostly for Commodore fans; which there still are plenty of. I'm sure if someone took an Apple II shell and install a custom mechanical keyboard and put modern day PC specs inside and provided a good quality joystick with it; it would sell pretty good too; just because.

Yeah, the OP had the video for the C64x and the link for the C64 Ultimate, which I think is part of the confusion. The other part is that the Ultimate is the product that was just announced, so I think some people just assumed that's what OP was talking about.
Yea C64 Ultimate is NOT the modern day specs based C64X
Two completely different PC systems for two completely different things.
C64 Ultimate only has 128MB DDR2 folks, come on. You are not running WinOS or any modern games on that PC.
