Shouldn't this work laptop be able to handle most games out now at medium settings?

I ordered a Dell Latitude 6 Series work laptop...only choice really for work was Dell since we are a Dell Enterprise customer.

i7 4610m 3.0 Ghz
8Gbs DDR3
256 Gb SSD
AMD 8790 2Gb DDR5
Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
15" ULTRA FHD 1920x1080 LED

The GPU is dedicated but also dynamic in that it can borrow from the system RAM if needed.

I bet this'll run most games at least medium settings maybe a high setting tweaked here and there.

yes it is dual core. pretty much every game on the market supports dual core. As far a dual core it is considered one of the fastest dual cores out there. Single thread performance benchmarks per core put it equal to a i74800MQ.
