Help me with this PC build

My brother in law knows a guy who wants to sell his computer, the thing is I don't know much about specs and stuff so I am going to ask for some help here.
For now I just know this about the computer:

Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe
CPU: Intel i7-930
Memory: DDR Kingston 8GB
Power Supply:Corsair TX850w
Storage:HD 500GB 7200 RPM
Video Card: NVidia 8500 (apparently he doesn't want to sell this one, so I have to buy one myself)

Like I said before, I don't understand these things very well. But can this computer run modern games like Witcher 3, ARK, GTA V, Star Wars Battlefront, and others? I don't care much about graphics, but if it can run at good or medium levels will be perfect fine for me.

Witcher 3 & GTA V? Oh no.
You need at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 for Witcher 3 and a GeForce 9800 GT 1GB for GTA V.

For GTA V you need at least an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz. So the i7 930 with 4 cores @ 2.8Ghz will do.

For Witcher 3 you need at least an Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3GHz. So the i7 930 with 4 cores @ 2.8Ghz won't do.

Since I am already going to buy a video card which one do you suggest? this Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 can cover all my bases for a year or two?
and I thought any i7 would be better than any i5, I do not understand these things at all :p

To play such demanding games as Witcher 3 & GTA V i'd suggest a GTX 970 [pcpartpicker.com] Then you will not only meet but also exceed the GPU requirements for the games you mentioned.

But even if you do get a GTX 970 you still won't be able to play Witcher 3 because your cpu is too slow. It's 2.8Ghz and minimum is 3.3Ghz.

The GTX 660 will only just allow you to play those games while the GTX 970 will play them on high settings at a resolution of 1920x1080p.

Eh, I wouldn't buy that computer, at this point those parts are just too outdated for modern gaming. You are better off just building a new one.

Being honest GTA V and Witcher 3 aren't on top of my wishlist, I just mentioned because were the most technically powerful games that came on my mind. So, what parts do you suggest for just run these games? I don't need to be flashy and play on ultra or something :D (I also don't have the money to buy parts like this GTX 970, I am form Brasil and this one is really expensive here :c)

first gen i7 is a good cpu, just needs good cooling to overclock
they are 120-140w cpus

if the board is not oem, get a good cooler and it can hit 3.5-4ghz

and it can easily beat the i5 4690 *non k

the 9800gt is a very old gpu
similar to gts250 performance
r9 280 or gtx960 will be much better

for about $500usd with no gpu its not a bad deal

I have until friday to decide, so if you guys help more me I will be really happy. I pretty sure you can see my wish list, but the games I really want to play are ARK, south park(stick of truth and fractured but whole when release), chivalry and star wars battlefront later this year. So this pc with a decent video card and this overclock stuff can play these games? or I am fighting a lost cause?

As you know there is no option to put pcpartpicker in Brazilian currency so dem USD's will have to do :p

SpeedyBullet, in one of the most buyer friendly site I know, the build you gave me is something like 1700 dollars. I really need to move away from my country if I want to have good stuff :p I think I will have to buy this one and buy a decent video card and do this overclock stuff and be happy with the games I will be able to play. Thanks, guys :D
