You meet the minimum system requirements which is a Core 2 Duo E6600 (dual core @ 2.4GHz). Yours is a dual core 2.6Ghz so np there. However you don't meet the recommended system requirements which is a Pentium E5700 (Dual Core @ 3GHz). I think you'll do ok on low settings if your GPU also meets the minimum specs. :)

I have to be honest, I'm not a tech guy. The term gpu means little to me and a google search doesnt give a very clear answer. What is the spec I'm looking for? What does a gpu look like in specs?

If I understand right, its the graphics card. The one it comes with is nvidia quatro fx 1600M 256MB DDR3.

Is that good enough?

I'm pretty high rank and i just want to make sure that my reg is as good as possible, given my tight budget.

The minimum GPU requirement for CS GO is a GeForce GT 420. I wanted to compare your Quadro FX 1600M with the GT 420 on gpuboss to determine if it's good enough but gpuboss can't find it because the FX 1600M is a workstation GPU.

What you could do to find out if you can run CS GO is go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/counter-strike-global-offensive/11422/?p=r and run "can you run it?" and then it will tell you if you meet the minimum specs or not.

The result will look something like this: (except this is my hardware and not yours ofc)

I'm looking at buying a new computer and the one I mentioned is available as is this one, which is probably much better. I just don't know if the video card is good enough (it is, again, a workstation).

It has an I7 processor, so it's a beast, but it comes with this graphics card: Nvidia quadro fx 1800M 1G

I assume that's a pretty marginal graphics card, but given how cpu heavy cs:go is...I figure it should still be fine? Or am i wrong? And is it possible to upgrade the gpu on a laptop? Like an external gpu?

Why do you not look at laptops with regular graphics cards? Or do you need the workstation card for work purposes? :o
Again the Quadro FX 1800M 1G is not listed on gpuboss and it's not on the tomshardware GPU hierarchy chart, so I can't tell if it will be fine or not :( And no you can't upgrade the GPU in a laptop because it is attached to the motherboard.
