LGA 1150 or LGA 1151?
Is a 1150 socket Processor worth getting even though the new 1151 socket types are coming out soon

I dont know any 1151 processors, but I might get a i7 4790k with a Maximus VII Hero for 1150 socket type.... Budget is around 700 Pounds :)

I currently have a FX 4100 so anything will be an upgrade... even a Pentium XD

If u can hold off; LGA-1151 "Intel Skylake" will be available very soon.
We'll see and know alot more about that on Aug 5th.

However, LGA-1151 will all use DDR4; so that's something to think about.
For example if u already have some good quality DDR3 RAM, u may want to just use LGA-1150 setup and re-use your current RAM.

Ok.... thanks for mentioning that I didnt even do any research about the 1151 chip so If I got the 1151 chip I would of used my Kingston DDR3 Ram XD

Well u will see when they are put on to market for sale, that the Motherboard require DDR4.
Now there are talks in reference to a few boards being released that have 2x DDR3 DIMMs and 2x DDR4 DIMMs; so people on tighter budget can make such a transition without being forced to go buy DDR4. So you want to watch for those Boards.

However u can't mix DDR 3 & 4; u simply use one or the other.

I’d say wait for the Intel Skylake cpu’s and get an i5 6600K or even an i7 6700K. And a new socket 1151 motherboard and suitable DDR4 memory aswell if it’s within your budget.

Wait for Skylake to come out and get i7-6700k. Same price, better performance.

Skylake doesn't require DDR4, you can also use DDR3 DIMMs. http://wccftech.com/skylake-dual-imc/

Oh cool didn't know about that :D Good so the OP can still use his Kingston DDR3 sticks.

From what benchmarks show about Skylake over Devils Canyon, Skylake is maybe a 6% buff over the older. TDP is a wash...so!
