GeForce Windows 10 Driver - "Installation cannot continue"
Hello. I wanted to download the Windows 10 GeForce Driver and everytime I want to it gives me an error saying Installation cannot continue. A system restart is required. Restart the system and try again.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

i don't have problems with the drivers not working on my Windows 10, Nvidia drivers that is. there are other problems, not much. try and download through windows updates? did you do that?

cause windows updates automatically downloads nvidia drivers now, it automatically downloaded the newest ones for me, even when i tried reverting back to old ones. it just auto downloads it. which is stupid.

try downloading through windows updates, if not, go and get the version before 353.62, and install it. Windows will prob auto install 353.62 for you.

as i can see from the picture u are using Geforce Experience, i would not download the driver that way, infact, i would not even be using Geforce Experience.

to make sure the correct drivers downloaded, right click on ur desktop and open up "nvidia control panel". it should tell you right there which version you are running.

---- I reserved it and I wasn't getting any notification that it was ready to update and I'm VERY impatient lol so I just went online and DL it. I'm going to try to look online for a solution before I downgrade like you said.

I understand, it disappears and you're like "What the...", then get impatience. It actually hides away, under Control Panel > Windows Updates (replacing that screen), then waits and waits... Gets confirms back from your hardware/software when it's Windows 10 supported. Therefore, if it was still waiting, something might / might not be compatible. It's just a small risk to jump in and test for yourself.

Suggest checking / asking around on the Geforce Forums.
Definitely will look around, thanks a lot for the help!
I had to attempt to download and install the new WHQL drivers for Win10/DX12 twice last night, keep trying it finally worked.
try also installing it in safemode, someone said they got it work that way, using driver sweeper and safemode
Tried to update my driver using v353.62 and get this error "NVIDIA Installation cannot continue"

did you try booting in safemode? using Driver Sweeper? and then installing the driver?
DirectX 12 in Windows 10 is not yet supported on NVIDIA's older Fermi GPUs
Microsoft's launch of Windows 10 means that DirectX 12, the next generation of its 3D graphics APIs for PC games, is also officially available. However, graphics chip maker NVIDIA has revealed that the drivers for its older Fermi-based GPUs still do not support DirectX 12.

If the new drivers don't work (Nividia or AMD for graphics on Windows 10). Rollback to the latest one that works (Windows 8.1, 8 or 7). I say this since I have a PC that has a older, but not that old graphics card and the new driver caused problems, rolled back and it now works fine in Windows 10. Getting the new drivers isn't always the greatest. Good Luck!
nvidia has a fixed driver out.... i had same issues with my 980Ti now its all resolved.

yah, apparently windows updates downloads ur GPU drivers automatically now. which is a big no no in my opinion, considering some ppl do like to rollback.

Not quite, Sometimes the Windows Update doesn't have the greatest of drivers for your hardware, especially if it's not new (aka a pc that came with vista with that year range of hardware). Btw, Been working on PC's for a long time.
For me it was a problem with the driver not being properly installed. I did the following and it fixed it:
Go to System properties (right click start menu), advanced system settings, and then hardware. Then on device installation, set it so it lets you choose what to do, then "Never download from windows update".
Then, go to device manager, and uninstall the display driver. It might appear with a yellow exclamation mark. Check the box to also remove driver software and everything.
THEN... on device manager, select "scan for hardware changes" on the 'action' menu.
Then, if you haven't used the Nvidia driver installer, you should do so in order to extract the drivers to a folder (The installer will fail, but the driver will still be extracted).
Then right click the new device found by device manager (Usually something generic like Microsoft display adapter, or something like that) and select 'update driver', and choose the option that says you will update from your own computer which lets you select a folder. Select the folder where the contents of the installer from Nvidia's website were extracted. (it extracts to c:\nvidia\ by default).
Then, I rebooted, because it installed a previous version for some reason.
After I rebooted, I could install the latest drivers without issues. Nvidia's installer worked, installed software including NVidia's control panel and everything. You should be fine from now on.
U downloaded it via the MS Media-Creation-Tool? Good, try a clean install then.
As that is best since u won't have to worry about already installed Apps/Drivers.
