Needless to say, since you're too stubborn about ray tracing and getting an Nvidia card you're never going to get a GPU, or at least a new one.
Also, I find RT performance to be quite acceptable, but could certainly use some more framerate uplift (and hopefully, FSR would help there). With Adrenalin 21.5.2 I can now play Metro Exodus PC EE at 3840x1080, Ultra Quality, Ultra RT, Water Reflections Raytraced and still get pretty good framerate. there were some slowdown where framerate fell to about 50fps in very few areas, but in general, I'm netting 70+fps to 100+ fps.
Besides, you've said you went to this store multiple times, how was this the first time you saw empty shelves?
Anyway, no, when it comes to raytracing nvidia with dlss will stomp all over amd with fsr.
I mean, I don't believe you ever even saw one in store or that you even went before today now, nor did you ever speak to anyone (what you said they had told you was unbelievable in the first place).
If you had seen a 6800XT on a shelf and dudnt buy it, you are crazy.
Not only would it of been monstrously better than your 970, you could if used it and flipped it pay for the card you really wanted.
Next you'll be telling us it was at msrp!
Just think, if you had actually pre-ordered and just waited patiently, you would if been enjoying your new card for weeks by now at msrp!
Shame is we all know you couldn't afford it in the first place, heck, you could of taken my advice and bought a second hand 2080ti for cheap back in October and had the same basic level of performance as a 3080 at 1/4 the current price!
Did Shredder not get a card yet?
Anyway.. hopefully we will see more cards starting from 2022.
So once his 970 inevitably bites the dust, he won't have a functional system. Seems like a blessing to me.
