The big GPU/Tech Rumours thread - Nvidia/AMD/Others - Is it worth to invest now? what news are here now? Feel free to debate
This thread has evolved a alot and has now become a New Runours on tech thread - It is primarily focused on GPU´s and it should stay that way. I will update the thread, whenever we have new information about newer GPU´s releasing. Feel free to debate some of the more catchy tech rumours as well.

I have reserved this field in our thread starter to keep current debates up and new information.
Atm.

2024/2025

Here are the official announcements
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k82RwXqZHY8&t=1496s
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/50-series/
------

Varous information about the new 5000 series.
https://www.techradar.com/computing/gpu/nvidia-unveils-new-geforce-rtx-5090-rtx-5080-rtx-5070-ti-and-rtx-5070-graphics-cards-at-ces-2025

We have started to see more information about the new Nvidia Blackwell GPU´s (5000´s series)

Here is a leak, not very interesting tbh.

https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-blackwell/

2023

We debate the 4000 series released and the ones that will release, a long with the rumours about the 5000 series, that is showcased to be the biggest leap in GPU history performance wise (like everytime ofc)

So I figured we should have a thread about the new RTX 3xxx series, that is soon to release.
What is your feeling about it? Do you think some of the rumours are true? Are you upgrading?

The flagship seems to be a 3090 (I like them going back to the x90 tier)
https://videocardz.com/newz/micron-confirms-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3090-gets-21gbps-gddr6x-memory

Personally I will not upgrade yet and even if I had to (I do not) I would still wait for prices to go down, early adoption is expenssive and often not worth it. But I am interested about what rumours might be true.

Some of the earlier rumours have suggested even higher GB numbers (from 16 and up) and performance claims have been all from 10-50% in effective speed and up to 60% in ray tracing inprovement.

I think it will be a 10-15% max in effective speed on each tier, but I do think we will see significant increases in the Ray Tracing spectrum.

AMD - Big Navi

It will be interesting to see what AMD brings to the table. Personally I think they will go for the mid tier market and if they succeed then, we might see battles for the top tier next generation.

Interesting stats about Big Navi

It seems like all will ship with atleast 16 GB, if that is true, that is surprising tbh.
Rumours talk about 2.4GHz clock on the Navi 21 XT. I think it will be pretty exciting to watch. We will know more in a week, once it gets revealed.

It seems that Nvidia is releasing a new series for miners and are changing the 3060, that will release on 25 of feb. Links below.

Do you want to show off your new build or even just your old build. Then you can do so at

That is our benchmark thread. You are still free to debate hardware related stuff and new builds here ofc.

Today i went again to the biggest shop to get RTX 3080TI or RTX 3070 TI. This time iw ent with one of my friends who had asked me for advice about what pc ot get months ago. What we saw ...... was TERRIBLE!!! The shelfs where graphics cards are, were totaly EMPTY. While all the others was full with lot of cpus rams motherboads ssds psus and cases there wasnt not even ONE graphics card ! Not even one. The employ we talked told us that yes all grphics cards were sold tofday and that this is happning since March 2020 when the firat quarantine started and it was then that people started uprading thier pcs like crazy!! Not even ONE graphics card avaliable for sale on the biggest pc shop! Things are worse than i thought! The employ also told us that they expect higher avaliability on summer but no one knows for sure. Anyone elsse here who saw something similar on a shop?
Maybe you should've pre-ordered or found a way to purchase online then you would've been guaranteed to get one, but clearly you didn't camp outside the store to get them day one.

Needless to say, since you're too stubborn about ray tracing and getting an Nvidia card you're never going to get a GPU, or at least a new one.

I saw tons of AMD cards. Too bad you're shilling for raytracing.
Just curious, what models were these tons of AMD cards? RX 5000 series and earlier, or RX 6000 series? I bought my Nitro+ RX 6900 XT back on 2nd January at about 1350USD, it was high then, but not insanely so compared to now.

Also, I find RT performance to be quite acceptable, but could certainly use some more framerate uplift (and hopefully, FSR would help there). With Adrenalin 21.5.2 I can now play Metro Exodus PC EE at 3840x1080, Ultra Quality, Ultra RT, Water Reflections Raytraced and still get pretty good framerate. there were some slowdown where framerate fell to about 50fps in very few areas, but in general, I'm netting 70+fps to 100+ fps.

6000 series.
It's almost as if we all said to pre order or to camp/ get there VERY EARLY for months.

Besides, you've said you went to this store multiple times, how was this the first time you saw empty shelves?
It was the first time because the other times they had some cards there. They were not RTX but they had cards for sale at that time. Yesterday was the first time they didnt have nothing. Could RX 6800XT and 690xt beat RTX 3070TI and RTX 3080 in ray tracing when FSR get used more? If thish appen then i will get a RX 6800XT instead of RTX 3080 or RTX 3070 TI.

I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who thinks this even happened. Honestly shredder you've been a meme for so long now it's hilarious to see what you're going to come up with next. Oh and you tell a "story" like an 8 year old , you really need to up your lying game as you Havnt improved since the days of saying you won a 1080ti.
He said he won a 1080ti multiple times and a 2080ti.

Anyway, no, when it comes to raytracing nvidia with dlss will stomp all over amd with fsr.

I mean, I don't believe you ever even saw one in store or that you even went before today now, nor did you ever speak to anyone (what you said they had told you was unbelievable in the first place).

If you had seen a 6800XT on a shelf and dudnt buy it, you are crazy.

Not only would it of been monstrously better than your 970, you could if used it and flipped it pay for the card you really wanted.

Next you'll be telling us it was at msrp!

Just think, if you had actually pre-ordered and just waited patiently, you would if been enjoying your new card for weeks by now at msrp!

Shame is we all know you couldn't afford it in the first place, heck, you could of taken my advice and bought a second hand 2080ti for cheap back in October and had the same basic level of performance as a 3080 at 1/4 the current price!

I think I bought mine at just the right time. Apparently that store's batch of cards sold out within a few days, and I haven't seen any more in stock since.
Dang, so you probably JUST got in the door before things went South, and yet Shredder's only finding out the reality of it in person yesterday, despite having all of the information not only at his fingertips, but spoonfed to him on a source he frequents? Talk about two different worlds haha.

Unfortunately for Shredder, I don't think his Ryzen 7 1700 has integrated graphics.
No, it doesn't. None of the original 1000 series did, and it's only on APUs until Zen4.

So once his 970 inevitably bites the dust, he won't have a functional system. Seems like a blessing to me.
