There was a rumour started not long after launch of 3000 series that Nvidia would refresh their line up and switch to TSMC 7nm at some point possibly due to competition from AMD. Recently we have news that an Nvidia refresh is coming soon but the 7nm thing hasn't been mentioned again. Apparently Nvidia have a contract with TSMC for future orders of a more advanced 5nm tech?
I have heard the claim that AMD have recently fulfilled a major contract obligation to Sony and Microsoft to supply them with APU dies for the consoles. Now AMD have more silicon wafers for themselves to produce more of their own CPUs and GPUs. I don't know how it works whether the consoles and CPUs use the same wafers.
Shredder i am surprised your Pc even boots, let alone run a 3080, think before you have a pop at someone els build, you would have to spend an awful lot of money to match those specs.
EDIT: My frames in Cyberpunk with a 3900X and 2080 Ti on an edited Ultra preset (and lowering settings doesn't even help much) at 1080p AND 1440p are usually between 60 and 80. With a 1700X, you can basically expect 45-60 at best. That's without RT settings.

That was interesting. Thanks.
I'm also interested in knowing more about the actual fabrication process and how it is automated and integrated into the facility in a cost effective way. I'm also interested in the process of how the raw materials become an actual product. Though that would possibly be off topic.
Anyhow a video for anyone interested

There's another 2 models of the 6900 XT available today on scan. New stock in a space of 2 weeks though still very expensive.
And I'd also thought I'd mention overclockers.co.uk have the 5900X in stock for a special offer £499 today.
They have aparantly completely reworked it so that won't be possible (initially and damn etherium has hit £2300!), but, I'm expecting it to be closer to a 3080 with extra vram than a 3090 with less, seeing as originally they are all au102 chips it makes more sense as 3090 silicon is supposed to be hard to get, which I suspect is why the 3080 is on the same base chip.
Though we now also have raytracing cores they can cut back
