Max Resolution of GMA HD integrated Graphics (i5 460m)
I just bought a Samsung CF24F396FHU (1080p 60hz VA-Panel) and want to test the image for Pixel-Errors etc.

The only Grapicsoutput currently at hand is a old Laptop with a i5-460m and its integrated Graphics running Linux Mint 19.1. The Laptop has a HDMI-Port. I want to know the max resolution for this integrated Graphics (couldn´t find it online, looked up Ark.intel etc.).

Is it Safe to plug in a new Monitor into this old Laptop?
(Asking for the Safty of both Laptop and Monitor)

The Laptop-Screen has 1366 x 768.

Sorry if this may be a dump Question, but i really dont want to hurt my old Tech, because of some silly Mistake, the Laptop is still very useable for Youtube and Webbrowsing...

Tuen on the Display.
Set the output to HDMI.
Connect the HDMI cable to Laptop.

You should hear a new connected device sound in Windows, like when connecting a usb device.

Then press WINKEY+P, but hold Winkey and press P until you get to Extended then let go of both keys. Then right click an empty desktop area and go to Display and change the screen res on the HDMI Monitor to 1920x1080

The videochip itself should support a FullHD resolution.
Still, it will cause a higher load than using the built-in display, so make sure the cooling is up to the task.
Yes, it will be fine. Even if it doesn't support a given resolution, the worst that will happen is you'll get no video output with an "out of signal/frequency range" type of error. It should support something like up to 2560 x 1600 or so though.

Safe? Absolutely, provided you're not forcing physical connectors together that don't match, or deliberately breaking things.

The rest is just software.
