Intel Pentium 20 anniversary edition- Thumbs up!
So I just read the Review on 3d-guru and iam starting to like the fact that Intel is pricing there Cpus more aggressively to compete with Amd! I might have to pick one of these puppies up to play around with it!
Its a dual-core cpu but overclocking they managed to hit 4.8 ghz and at the speed it competes really well with the Mid-range Cpus currently in the market, the best thing about it is the price! At $80 dollars Amd will have hard time to beat this thing, Good for you Intel! And this is coming from a Fx 9370 owner.

Thoughts?

Iam just a little confused what Socket this will fit in, Z87 and Z97?........ So you need a decent Motherboard with a decent cooler and your in buissness! I also wonder how games will play on a dual-core cpu, this schould be interesting to say the least.

Add the price of overclocking motherboard and good cooling needed and suddenly you are at same level as i5 and cheaper motherboard.
its still cheaper than an i5, but for a budget build
its $175 for a z97 board and g3258

the same price as the i5 4440 alone

You didnt include cooling, something tells me you need more then CM Hyper 212 EVO to push it to i5 levels.

Regardless of the cooling iam just glad they relized better price points since Intels always in the High-end segment, now they can compete better with Amd. Id really like to pick one up just to see how it runs games.
cm hyper 212 evo is good. i am using it in my i5-3570k desktop computer.

How do you like that 3570k? I almost bought that instead of my Fx 9370. I had a kick-ass motherboard lined up for it as well-Asus Maximus Extremme V!

So the big question is price - is a Pentium G3258 or AMD FX system better value? At £55, the cost of tapping into overclocking with an accompanying Z97 motherboard is in the region of £120, given the latter can be had for around £70. It would be impossible to build an AMD FX-8320-based system for the same price, as the CPU alone retails for over £100, and even the FX-6300 you'd be looking for a similar amount to the Pentium G3258 overall if you want a half-decent board. To add to AMD's headache, Asus has announced that via a BIOS update, its cheaper H87, H97, B85 and H81 motherboards will be able to tap into multiplier control too, which could bring the price down even further.
That Asus BIOS update sounds promising. Depends how high can you go with cheaper cooler like CM Hyper 212 EVO for instance.
the cpu is around 50w, a tx3 could handle a good overclock on it

Its a good break of the usual routine intel does, its interesting to see how many people are gonna give this Cpu a try. I really like the price point but iam kinda worried about only having 2 cores so I think ill wait for some gaming Benchmarks before I buy.
For whatever it is worth, it trumps the 8350 on the value scale on Passmark. Thats pretty good value.
What I like about these processors is the single threaded performance. I use Microsoft FSX which is very dependent on single threaded performance. I might put together a budget rig just for kicks and giggles to see how it compares to my 8350 760 rig.

Pretty much. I just ran the comparison aganist my i5 4670k and it's not far from it.

Put on a decent $70 air cooler and OC this bad boy. Save big money in the end,

I dont think this Cpu can beat the 8350, maybe in Value like you said but in any other test I dont see it happening.
for single core its stock speed is already way ahead of any fx cpu
only down side is 2 threads no ht
