If game doesn't support controller; u just use an emulator so it can work.
Like x360ce for example. Or Xpadder.

What side-scroller game u playing where u need a mouse? Mouse just use KB keys.

For ease of BigPicture; just make two desktop shortcuts.

The normal/default Steam shortcut. And a copy of that one and then change the command to this.

x:\Steam\Steam.exe -bigpicture

Then rename it "Steam - BigPicture" or something like that and that shortcut will allow easy access to loading Steam w/ BP Mode on. Use the default shortcut for starting Steam w/out BP Mode on.

Pinnacle Game Profiler is a good choice if you don't mind paying a little bit for it. It automatically activates certain controller profiles that you set when certain games are played. It also has a bunch of preset profiles for many games(although some might need tweaking for preference).

Typing this on my living room PC, where I use a K400r and two Xbox 360 controllers. I usually stick to the controllers unless we need more than two players so I only have limited experience with the keyboard, but we did do a playthrough of Trine 2 pretty successfully.

Input lag isn't an issue at all under normal circumstances, but I have noticed this keyboard can be weirdly sensitive to line of sight. If I leaned in such a way that the side of the couch or some other object came significantly between me and the reciever (plugged in behind the TV) I'd get pretty bad lag spikes. Try as I might though, I can't replicate this right now, so it might be exacerbated by wireless interference (no other computers on in the apartment at the moment) or I might be misinterpreting the cause completely. It's also my first ever wireless keyboard so I don't know if this kind of problem is unusual or what.

Still - if you want to play a "serious" game where you can't afford a hitch now and then (like I dunno, competitive team-based multiplayer games), I'd keep that in mind.

Other than Trine I've mainly used it for FTL (as well as regular non-game keyboardy stuff), though I just tried it out with Rogue Legacy and had a great run. I don't like trackpads as gaming mouse replacements in general so I wouldn't play things on it that require precise mouse use, but it works fine for FTL and Trine.

I'm really happy with it overall. But I would indeed echo what others have said about getting your own controller support going; it'll be worth it for the comfort on many games and hey, the more options the better.

If wireless is of any kind of issue, move the wireless receiver away from other devices if possible. Such as in-front of the TV or elsewhere so it's not so close to such devices, especially your PC's power supply area. Or near any WiFi devices, modem, router, etc.

Thanks, yeah, I've thought of doing that; just haven't gotten around to getting a USB extension cable yet. :)
